ph problem

as the noob grower i have to say that i underestimated the importance of PH, only 2 days ago i bought soil and water ph meters(Strain northern light Blue auto, 34th day from sprout)... and i figured out that soil PH is about 7.3... i added vinegar to tap water and lowered Ph from 7.1 to 6.0 how much time will there be needed to normalize PH in soil?? she's growing, all green and everything but fun leaves were continuously burning first i thought that it was nutrient problem, but seems that PH is a reall Bitch... will it help recovering to spray nutrients on leaves before soil ph will normalize? she's too big now for repotting in new fresh soil ((

Hey reva, yes the wrong pH can cause all sorts of probs so try to always get it right, its not so hard & well worth the effort. But many other factors come into play like conditions, nutes, lights etc. You should upload pics & describe your grow in more detail for better advice. Spraying the leaves is not the same as watering so there's no point in doing that unless your battling mites etc. I would get proper pH down instead of using vinegar, im not sure how long the vinegar lasts for. good luck

watch this little trick for ph down :) ... i burnt my foot one time with proper ph down , thern i said feck that holy crap what are we smoking .
this is my new away :) ( adds flavour too lol )

I tried the white vinegar. In a long run it sucks, in a pinch it works. The best thing for you to do is get some soil that is already PH'd and you won't have to mess with the pen.

You should be aiming for a ph between 6.5 and 7 for the water and whatever nutrient mix that goes in to the soil.
6 is too low though I seem to get less problems being too low than being too high, (for ph I mean- with the rest of life it's usually the other way around lol). Yes ph is super important. It was always my #1 thorn in the side. Take care of your ph pen and have a backup. Good luck!

6 isn't too low but 7 is a bit high. Cannabis thrives in a slightly acidic medium so between 6 and 6.8 is ideal. Maintaining the proper pH level is one of the biggest headaches a grower has to deal with.

Thanks GC. That makes me feel better about what I've observed. I was just going by what I have always read when i said it should be 6.5 -7. In real life I haven't noticed many problems going a bit more acidic. I've always had major issues when ph got over 7 though, which usually happened because of ph pen malfunctions. Even being on 7 makes me nervous now.

Yes, I think I'd have to agree from personal experience that a bit too acidic is less dangerous than a bit too alkaline. I think 7 is probably the highest I'd feel comfortable with.
