Ph meters and lowering ph if needed but with seedlings?

I hear the onesoil at lowes are crap by many different people. But I see ones on amazon for like 17 but it's just ph not that 3 way crap. Will that work be accurate? Bc mine says my phone is 7 but it said that when I left it in the manure bag for 2 weeks straight. I guess u have to take them out??? I dunno. But it concerns me sprouting with ph off that much. Shouldn't be it's just organic soil manure perlite peat.

There are a number of factors that can effect the pH of store bought soil. Better quality soils typically have a more standard pH from bag to bag, but there can still be a lot of differences between bags.

Not sure what you mean by onesoil. Is that a soil pH meter? 7.0 is neutral and I would imagine that a lot of gardening soils would try and maintain a 7.0 soil range.

I think you are asking about those grey 3 way pH / water / light probes. So that must mean you are in soil. So yes those are not very useful for us. I mean get one, I got one, it is nice to have for a quick check for verification...sometimes plants drink differently and get out of synch and it is nice to monitor that. But it is unnecessary. There is no need for them when following a normal cannabis watering program in soil. the meter is not accurate at all on pH. at least mine never budges. But the soil has to be wet. that is a problem. the soil has to be wet for it to measure it and we want the soil dry. So it is just bogus.

Now if you are in hydro then I recommend a pH pen because you will be needing to mix up a lot of stuff all the time.

What is CHEAP that I can measure ph with no strips?

And yes , I was talking about the 3 way meter from lowes

There are $15 cheap ones you can get online that work ok. Just gotta calibrate them pretty regularly. And they will eventually just stop working all together.

Are you having problems or just want to measure soil pH? Again the probes don't help.

The probes wont work because they only work when the soil is wet. So they only work right after you water or maybe the next day but the rest of the week they don't help. So it only works right after you make the solution. When you make the solution you should be testing as a matter of just the process if you are not running a living soil. In that type of soil you are supposed to water with pH'd water ever time and then you wont have a problem. It wont go bad unless you over water.

Those probes are great for checking on outdoor plants after a rain or something like that. But for us, in Soil if you are concerned then you just pH the water each time before use. But no need to measure the soil.

Again you either have soil where it doesn't matter or you have soil where it does and you have to do it. So if you choose to run it dead then get the pen and just make sure what you feed is correct and all will be fine.

In soil I don't measure the medium...don't know anyone who does. If I cared (which I don't, I don't run that kind of soil) I would measure run off to get an idea after measuring what is being applied.

In soil, if you choose to not let the microbes fix it all for you, then you get a pen like used in hydro to pH the water before you give it and then everything is fine.

Best of luck!

I need an accurate ph reader yeah to test the baseline of the soil and see if I need to lower it (what's best lime, bonemeal? I hear dolomite lime takes a whole to activate even if it's finely crushed). I also would like to test the public water and see what it is. I'm trying to get ahold of the Township and see if they use chlorine or the other stuff that doesn't off-gas

The world does not CARE how much you know, until they know how much u care.
