PH levels and RO Water

Hello all.

I have switched to RO and am a little confused.

After adding nutes I could dump a bottle of ph down and it barely moves(bring dramatic)

I literally add 5x more ph down and it barely moves.

It has sat 48hrs prior to nutes so I am unsure what to do.

Here is my journal if you need more info;

Thanks!

Hi sleepless,

I use to use RO water also but found my ph always required a stupid amount of ph up. I did a ph test prior to adding anything and found the ph was so low my strips couldn't register. Weird, to me anyways, that yours is way to high and mine was way to low? Idk maybe normal...

I eventually had to start using my tap water and am happier for it, is that an option for you? Good luck and happy growing!!

ppms...that's something I'm not able to measure atm...I'm forbidden from spend anymore until some sort of gains are realized...someone with a sense of responsibility had to step in and set me straight...

i use RO water. mine comes out like around 7, a little higher maybe.

then i add nutes, calimagic or epsom and general hydro micro/bloom and i need to use ph up. my nutes make it go down unless its like 200 ppm.

when i use ph down it is strong!!! drops do it.

when i use ph up i can add like 2 ML for a 5 gallon bucket.

also i dilute the ph down / up in RO water before i use it. it is a super strong concentrate.

what is the ph of your RO water when it comes out clean? the PPM?

what is the PPM/PH of the water that RO filter draws from?

what nutes

I am using Holland Secret Micro Grow Bloom.

And TonOBud with CalMag.

My Tap is 8ph and 400 plus ppm. Very hard water.

RO is 7ph and not sure on ppm yet but it is a brand new 5 stage so I am below maybe 5 or 10?

I've never needed ph up.

But ph down used to be drops and now it's ml after ml.

Our r/o is ph 7 isn't that neutral?
We have to use about twice as much down as we do up though. Has been that way for as long as I can member.
We use GH ph up/down.

Ya that's my issue.

Not seeing any I'll affects yet so hoping the PKs are all good.

It boils down to which nutes you are using with the ro water. Id suggest using a nute made specifically for ro water. I wouldnt worry about how much ph down your adding if the plants look healthy.

Im running a couple of my grows on tap water that comes out at 0.8ec (400ppm) and plants are healthy. It matters what nutes you use though. Id suggest running AN ph perfect 3 part. Works great in ro water.

You may already do this but mixing well between each nute addition helps give you a more accurate ph reading. Could be a issue with your ph reader as well.

So your running 400ppm tap water with success?

I wish I didn't need RO at all.

I will look at AN when I use this stuff up.

Thanks
