The Pennsylvania Department of Health is seeking input on regulations for growers and processors who will participate in the state's medical marijuana program, expected to begin in early 2018.
The draft of the temporary regulations can be viewed on the department's website at Pennsylvania Department of Health. The opportunity to view regulations and comment on them ends Aug. 28.
The department is also seeking input to be used in devising regulations for patients and caregivers. A survey will be available on the department's website until Sept. 1. A set of proposed regulations for patients and caregivers is expected to be finished late this year.
In April, Pennsylvania became one of two dozen states which have legalized medical marijuana.
Pennsylvania Health Secretary Karen Murphy gave an update to reporters on Thursday. She said her department has thus far approved 53 "Safe Harbor letters" which allow possession of medical marijuana by parents and caregivers of children under 18 who have a certified serious medical condition that can be treated with medical marijuana.
More details about Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program can be found on the department's website at Pennsylvania Department of Health.
