The medical marijuana debate is once again reheated.
The Pennsylvania Medical Society would like to change the way marijuana is regulated.
They are calling on the FDA to reclassify marijuana from a schedule one to schedule two drug. If approved, the change would make marijuana medically accepted, according to experts.
"It accomplishes two things. It allows it to be better studied. It takes all those patients who are in favor of medical marijuana and puts them in a study where they may be given access to treatment," said Scott Shapiro, the president of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Currently, medical marijuana is illegal in Pennsylvania. Senate Bill 3, the Medical Cannabis Act, was passed last year. The bill is currently in the house.
