Pennsylvania is one step closer to having medical marijuana available.
Secretary of Health Dr. Karen Murphy announced an important milestone Wednesday.
Applications for growers, processors, and dispensaries will soon be available.
Most of our area falls into the northeast and northcentral medical marijuana regions, where a total of 4 grower/processor permits and 6 dispensary permits will be issued.
"It is an important reminder to us all that the purpose behind this medically focused program is to provide medication to those who desperately need it," said Dr. Murphy.
The permit applications will be available beginning January 17th of next year, and they will be accepted from February 20th until March 20th.
Full implementation of the medical marijuana program isn't expected until at least late next year.
