Outdoor times

I can't seem to find any definite answer to this question anywhere...

If a strain is grown outdoors ... does hours of light have anything to do with anything?

The reason I ask ..will a female plant flower anyway after a specific amount of time? I don't totally understand the concept of outdoors.

Yes Hours of sunlight change over time. Here in the Northeast it used to get dark at 9:00pm in the summer daily, now it is dark by 4:20 pm as of today. This gradual change affects flower and prolonged darkness start flowering.

A female plant will not flower normally unless the photoperiod (hours of daylight) is shortened down to aproximately 12hrs.
