Dundee - A 50-year old Dundee man was assaulted and robbed of his medical marijuana early Tuesday morning according to Yamhill County authorities.
Deputies say Ernest Holter, who grows marijuana as part of the Oregon State Medical Marijuana program was assaulted around 5:30am Tuesday when he went to check on noises coming from inside his barn.
As he entered his barn, Holter was struck on the head and face with fists and an unknown instrument, Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree said.
Crabtree said Holter apparently passed out from the attack, and awoke almost two hours later and notified family members who contacted law enforcement.
The amount of marijuana stolen has not yet been determined.
Holter was taken to Providence Newberg Hospital , and then transferred to Emmanuel Hospital where he underwent surgery for his head injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
