Opponents Of Medical Marijuana Rules Hold Rally

Opponents of medical marijuana regulations passed by lawmakers want Gov. Bill Ritter to veto them.

They held a march Saturday from Civic Center Park to Governor's Park to make their point.

Organizers say the regulations will cut off access to medical marijuana and force some dispensaries out of business. House Bill 1284 would allow cities and counties to ban dispensaries and limit private caregivers to taking care of five patients.

Dispensaries would also have to grow most of their own marijuana which could force smaller shops to close if they can't merge with a grower.

"What it's going to do is it's going to drive up the cost of medicine, people won't have access to affordable medicine anymore, accessibility to choices of medicine; it's really going to limit the different kinds of strains that they can have," Mark Rose with Grateful Meds Dispensary said.

Denver 4/20 rally organizer Miguel Lopez marched and said there was not supposed to be any smoking at the event.

Ritter is expected to approve the regulations.

"People won't have access to affordable medicine anymore."
I don't have access to affordable medicine now. The prices dispensaries charge are ridiculous. There is no way they are "non profit."
I think its silly for LA to close dispensaries based on the date they were opened. The city should close all dispensaries that profit.
