Once and for all WHICH TENT is best or worst and why? The HydroHut, Secret Jardin, BudBox, HomeBox or the GrowLab by HomeBox. The HydroLab, or the Greenroom?

(PLEASE DONT TALK ABOUT CHEAP INFERIOR TENTS ON THIS THREAD. ONLY THE ABOVE TENTS AND POSSIBLY ANY RUMOURS OF SOMETHING NEW TO THE MARKET TO BE DISCUSSED. THANK YOU)

Ok, So there are various threads on various sites here and there mentioning the odd tent and how peoples grows are doing etc... But not a great deal of feedback about the best tent on the market today, no detailed comparisons even though some of these threads started a couple of years ago. I'd like to settle this once and for all, by mainly discussing rooms of:-

1mx1mx2m to 2mx2mx2m

From my perspective, as a potential buyer i'd be interested in the following:-

* BUILD QUALITY -
I prefer quality over budget tents with thin materials etc. But then i'm not going to spend a fortune on a tent either. What is the quality of the materials used in these tents actually like? What's it feel like? Is it thin is it thick? Is it sturdy or is it flimsy? How many layers thick is it? What about the quality of fixtures/zippers/steel frame/corners etc. How much weight can it carry? Does anything easy break? Give ANY positive or negative feedback no matter how insignificant you may feel it is.

* IS IT 100% LIGHTPROOF? -
Nobody is interested in just what the manufacturers have wrote on the front of the box, we would like any feedback from people who have bought any of these tents, can vouch for any of these claims? Give ANY positive or negative feedback no matter how insignificant you may feel it is.

* IS IT POISONOUS? -
Various tents "were" known to give off poisonous gases when used with HID lamps and thus killed plants. Some manufacturers recalled products and a new line of non toxic tents were released to replace the old ones. What is todays feedback? Have any of these manufacturers failed in addressing this issue (as is claimed by one manufacturer on thier site) and still poisoning your plants? Give ANY positive or negative feedback no matter how insignificant you may feel it is.

So having done alot of research, but not actually seen any of the tents for myself, I have narrowed what is apparently todays best tents on the market and am aiming to gain as much feedback as possible from you in order to guide any potential buyers including myself in the right direction? How would you feel if it was your mum buying the tent? Which would you advise her to buy if she craved quality? not just value for money.

So once and for all... WHICH TENT is todays best and worst and why? The HydroHut, Secret Jardin, BudBox, HomeBox or the GrowLab by HomeBox. The HydroLab, or the Greenroom?
;)

Re: Once and for all... WHICH TENT?

GrowLab 120L here and happy with everything except the frame. The frame seems a little on the light duty side for my taste. It has no problem hanging 2ea 600watt HPS aircooled lights though. I would buy it again.

Re: Once and for all... WHICH TENT?

Growlab 80 w/ 250hps works like a charm

I have the GL120, which is not the stretch version, but all else applies as far as comments above.

Please ellaborate in as much detail as possible... What is the difference between a normal version and a stretch version of a GrowLAB? Any previous rumours about brands particular products should also be mentioned here... For example Secret Jardin's "DarkStreet" tents are not as good as the Secret Jardin "DarkRoom" tent due to the fact the street version is apparently made from much thinner material and is apparently not 100% lightproof. Thanks.

Re: Once and for all... WHICH TENT?

I have a GL80L. The stretch or Long version is just that a longer version. I would buy again. It is what it is. A tent to grow in. Works great!

The GL120 is a 4x4 and the GL120L is a 4x8.

Re: Once and for all... WHICH TENT?

I have two Secret Jardin DR-80's and I love them.

The Dark Room tents are very similar and also very good quality.

I don't have experience with the others, but these two brands have gotten consistently good reviews.

I was worried about the zippers on my tents because I use them a lot, but so far they are working just fine. In fact, now that they're broken in a bit, they zip and unzip very easily and smoothly.

I've been through a couple tents. At first I was using a wardrobe closet with mylar and cardboard on the inside. *smh* Then I had a 4'x4' ebay tent. The ebay tent flowered ok, but it had this kinda glow when the lights were on that wasnt discreet at all. All tents have pinholes and my ebay tent had a bunch, but it never seemed to have even the slightest effect on the ladies. It was made of cheap pvc plastic that wasnt very reflective so I ended up having to tape mylar inside of the tent.
Then I upgraded to my GL120 (3'11x3'11x6'11). And that tent has been awesome to me. Way more reflective, insulated, and even has two velcro viewing windows so I'm not unzipping the tent every 5 min. When everything is zipped up it does look very discreet. Very slight glowing around the zippers if any. The frame is actually lighter than my ebay tent, but its way sturdier. My ebay tent had those lil wire hanger cross bars that were bending holding up my 35 lb hood. My GL120 holds the hood up no problem with their stronger and thicker cross members. And the GL comes with the bookbag strap fastener thingies! :woohoo:

I kno I sound like CEO of GL but I really like the tent. I will also say this, before I got the GL it was a throw up between them and the Sun Huts. Those bad boys can open from the front and the back, and seem to be a tad more reflective. I just chose the GL in the end and am happy. But I woulda prolly been just as happy with a Sun hut. Ultimately its ur choice bro ;)

It sounds like they may have packed the wrong-sized removable floor with your tent. I'd contact someone and see if they would correct it.

The ones in my DR-80's fit OK, but I don't use them. I got a couple of 30" X 30" X 1.5" plastic rabbit cage trays that fit perfect. They're not reflective like the extra floor, but I'm not sure that makes much difference.

Hey all. I have the Sun Hut XXL (112"x57"x84"). I highly recommend this line of tents. The design and construction of these tents is something I really think was thought through well. Every side opens right down the middle w/ a heavy duty zipper and velcro flaps for use over zipper to allow for no light leaks. Zippers also horizontaly @ 6" above floor and 6" below top of tent on all sides. Comes with a reflective divider w/ duct sleeves (not light tight; i.e. need modification to use each side for different light periods). The actual tent is pretty light tight, as you can only see a little light coming through some of the zipper stiching from outside (lights on in closed tent in a room with lights off) and through the passive air intake vents (barely as they have reflective flaps on the inside that lay against the mesh screen to prevent light leaking in.) Lots of ventilation/ cord inlet-outlets ( each has a sleeve w/ drawstrings and a velcro cover on outside. Everything inside this tent is Mylar like material. Outside is a heavy duty nylon material, very high quality craftmanship. Frame is constructed of metal bars with snap fittings and comes w/ 4 ceiling cross bars and 2 support bars (for fan, filter, or whatever). I actually bought mine used and it has seen a little wear and tear. Front zipper on right top side broke off because broken teeth on zippers caused strain on zipper and it popped off. A couple of tears in the stitching at key high tension areas ( corners of tent were bars connect, and one from me being clumsy and not unzipping tent all the way and tripping over door flap, tearing some stitching connecting zipper to fabric.) If you treat these tents like the investment they are, it will more than make up for it's cost in the long run.

Nice comment BigDeal... The SunHut Tens are tricky to get hold if here in the UK. Does anyone here in The UK own one? and where did you get it? What's your reply to BigDeal?

Tent w/ divider

Tent w/ divider (different angle)

Venting

Passive intake

Passive intake w/ flap down

Close up of Outlet/inlets (I used to let my chinchillas run around in here before i started growing, and they love to chew on stuff...)

All Zipped up (I am limited on space so I can only access through the front, but all sides zip/unzip like this)
