Hi everybody,
I’m not new to cannabis, just growing it. Quit toking early 1980’s, joined military, retired 20yrs later. Moved to okla.. they passed MMJ bill last year. Got my MMJ license this year. Two things I noticed right off, more expensive And more potent. So, I decided to grow my own. Failed miserably, never got past seedling stage. So, couple of questions 1. Do seedlings have to be in a enclosed space ie: grow tent 2.does it matter what kind of grow light you have. I used a grow sys my wife got at Wally World, it has the tube cfl. At least I think it’s a cfl. How far does the light need to be from seedling. Germinated ok, sprouted ok, after that things went down hill. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Seedlings usually stay in a humidity dome untill their old enough to come out. For seedlings you don’t need a big light. I use a small 2’ T5 light for them. Awesome thing about that is you can keep the t5 super close without harming the plants I.e heat. With your light just use the hand technique. Put your hand under the light palm down, move your hand up and down, feel the heat or discomfort? If it’s uncomfortable for you, it’s uncomfortable for them.

Where are my manners. Welcome to the site!! :thumb:

Not a problem at all sir!! That’s what we’re here for! First of all I Want to thank you for your service in the military! :high-five:

Secondly now that you’ve posted to introduce your self, it would be great if you started your self a journal. With pictures to help us help you along.

Are you looking for plants with high thc, or high cbd levels?

15 - 20% thc.

But first check out this helpful link to help you make your own journal :thumb:

Welcome. You'll get lots of help here. Funny, you quit when you joined, and that's about when I started. Different era, though. No pissing in a bottle when I was in. The most common mistake is over watering. The best place to grow is outdoors if you want cheap and good---and huge!

Welcome.

Having the light outside, how far is it from the plants without it doing harm to the tent it’s self?

I’ve never really thought about it, my first though and concern would be, is it going to be too far from the plants. Will the plants start stretching, does it block out an x amount of rays being able to come in to the plant. Will it be too hot for the tent sitting above it... let’s see what other will say about it

Does the light have to be inside the dome
By "humidity dome" I think he meant just a clear solo cup turned upside down over the seedling.
I use one till the seedling pops out of the ground, then I remove it so she can get used to the "real world" as soon as possible.
