With medicinal marijuana likely coming to Ohio this fall, there are some important facts people need to know before taking the drug.
Ohio Senator Lou Gentile said he feels the bill was rushed through the legislature, and there are some flaws. Including, employers can still fire their employees if the test positive for it even if they have a prescription.
People can also lose their unemployment benefits.
"Until the federal government makes some decisions about this issue and makes marijuana a schedule 2 substance, does some research and development, we'll have states that are pushing for it but the national, federal government still sees it as an illegal, controlled substance. Some of those concerned lead many of us to ultimately vote no on the bill because we thought it was flawed, not because we think people shouldn't have relief from pain and suffering," said Sen. Gentile.
Once the bill reaches the governor's desk, he will have 10 days to sign, veto, or ignore it.
Then, if signed, it will become law in 90 days.
