Hello guys I have a couple of white widow female plants that I gave a compost tea to yesterday and today it has a deficiency. Do you know what type of deficiency this is and what I can do to help them?

sulfur dust is a preventative for rust, mites, pm and bud rot.... please note preventative but not necessarily a cure. the idea is to dust at regular intervals to prevent the occurrence
You actually dust the plant with it :thedoubletake::thedoubletake: ...I've never used it :hmmmm: but I just googled it....

Sulfur is recovered during gas manufacturing as a molten sulfur. It is then cooled on a stainless steel belt and forms into a flake form. The flakes are then taken off the belt and ground into sulfur powder.

Sulfur has a lot of many uses:

  • Fertilizers / soil treatment (commonly used in large farms)
  • Adjust the pH of soil, which is essential for certain fruits such as blueberries
  • Excelent as an additive to a lawn/garden
Sulfur is insoluable in water. Only mixtures in water can be made.

Sulfur powder has a low flammability rating. It can be compared to wood in terms of flammability. When burned, it creates sulfur dioxide, a poisonous gas which can cause harm to animals and may also cause many health hazards if burned in large quantities (acid rain is one of them). It is strongly recommended to not burn it anywhere near where people live because of the health hazard. Sulfur candles used to be widely available for burning sulfur. The candles were a mixture of sulfur and other ingrediants to help it burn, Note that pure solid sulfur powder does not burn easily because it requires a lot of oxygen to get a nice blue flame. The only way to make it burn well is to mix it well into the air. This can be done with a specially made sulfur burner. We do not recommend burning sulfur powder and are not responsible for any damages to anything or anyone by doing so.

EDIT: After reading that, I wouldn't even store it near my plants, let alone dust anything with it..uh uh no way...

12/36 hours is better to brew , its best to check the ph just add plain left out water that has been sat out to bring it up a little ( it might be fine depending on what you added ) , more diluted and it should be fine on leaves ( a lot more diluted ) , ,
Try to avoid hitting leaves as the tea burns like mad and causes fungus etc , as said above ( rust ) is one , then you invite gnats and other little critters to pee you off !! ..
clean the leaves with fresh water if you ever splash them , i keep a little spray bottle with distilled water i use to wash down leaves that ive hit
:goodluck:

Any up date pics ?

I put molasses and liquid seaweed in the water then added some flower girl and earthworm casting in a cheese cloth and set a air stone in the water to brew for 8 hours

That makes alot of sense. I'm at work already for the day but I always check when I get home from work so I'll post an update later tonight. Thanks everyone for your help it's such a huge help!

Hello guys just got home from work and checked on the plants. The plant that had the rust slowed down the discoloration of the leaves so I think I accidentally just got tea on the leaves but my other two plants look happy and thriving! Thanks everyone for your help

The first picture is of the plant that had the rust. I removed those leaves but I may have over watered it alittle but I won't water for a few days and see how it goes

Please let me know what you think of the plants and if there's anything you guys would recommend me do differently! I know I'm new and I have alot to learn. I appreciate everyone's feedback and I definitely couldn't do it without you guys.

Lots of growers burn sulfur to kill shit, in fact I’ve heard you recommed it on this board. What changed your mind? I’m cool with adapting and not necessarily a fan of sulfur but I thought it was considered acceptable practice in veg.

I just dust soil lightly as a preventative against all that other crap, figure it’s the lesser of 4 evils, however I’m going to jump in with beneficial nematodes soon.

Hey guys I just checked my plants again and the two are doing great! The one that had the rust is getting worse tho is there anything I can do for this plant or is it too far gone?

Hey Randy, i don't know. Maybe something's going on in the roots. Too bad it's in a cloth pot or you could take a look. Are there a lot of bugs around?
