Growers Notes:

An absolute pleasure. 6/6 popped. Swift to tap. Super quick, like an hour, to pop their heads up and shed their husks, then accelerated out in nodes and all the same. We have 6 under lights and they all look pretty much the same. In veg they just trucked all the time. Super steady. After the early burst ahead of the rest they just cruised. Always green whatever you threw at them. A Growers Delight.

Strain Notes:

Ha. This one is pretty unusual. Its 2:1 THC:CBD. There’s some pretty wide ranges of what that might look like. They say it averages 8%:4% or better. (Canadian tests) But it goes as high as 16% THC and 15% CBD. Which would be an interesting smoke!

Warlock x Cannatonic

The production of VERY flavorful medical extracts (e.g. Rick Simpson Oil) and lotions, cremes or edibles is made much easier with this strain. CBD-enriched Warlock is a medical strain, which we heard from patients is well suited to treat the symptoms of e.g. Chronic Pain, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Tourette-syndrome, Glaucoma, Arthritis and many more. House of the Great Gardener won the FIRST award for CBD-enriched Warlock: 3rd place in the category 'Peoples Choice' at the Bio-Cannabis-Cup 2016 on Vancouver-Island, Canada.
Hmm can think of a few people round these parts would be interested in this. Other than that Afghani/Skunk Hybrid and 9 weeks flower and that’s your lot.

Hope I get to see lots of them. The mini humidifier didn’t switch off last night. Caught it 4 hours after lights out. With its orange, green and blue gently pulsing lights.

Meh. 2nd night of 12/12. Hope that’s OK,
Gotta be, right 😅

The temp/rh sensor seems to have not recorded over properly overnight. It def got cold and dry in there I see lows of 22c and 49% at 2am and 8am so you know what Greta Thunberg? I am Lord of the Environment. I bend it to my will. You? High School dropout. Amateur. I am a two time college drop out and can control the environment. Go back to school Greta, if only so you can drop put of college a couple of times.

Other than that they jumped an inch over night. Need to short out their vertical growth a touch.

Nick
Only twice? Meh. First time I dropped out from Penn to join Dead tour. They made the mistake of playing at the Philly Civic Arena, 9 blocks from my dorm room. My buddies took me to my first show (did my first hit of acid at the same time). We walked to the show. That was it. It only took one. I went on my own to the next two and hung in there till the end of freshman year, catching shows when I could. When I went home that summer, I knew I was done. At least for the time being. Too many shows to see!
Lmao!!

Interesting! Though I still think the better approach is to grow a mostly THC strain and another mostly CBD strain and then you can mix them in any ratios you want.

I grow a CBD, CBG and THC strain, each around 15% of the major cannabinoid which makes the math of mixing and matching really easy.

I do the same with strains, want a body whack sleepy but with loads of love? 60% Strawberry Molly and 40% OG Kush. Probably less sciencey though!

Thought it would be a nice product to have in the line up. Not seen above 1.5% CBD here anywhere.

Speaking of strains! I have basically the closest you’ll get (with out looking for wild growing Thai weed) riddled with seeds. I’m sending some of what I bought today to be tested and then maybe breed some from the seeds. What you reckon for the mother/cross?

Maybe you go looking for that wild growing Thai weed and keep it as close to landrace as possible? Not as fancy as all of the designer strains around these days, but would certainly get to a corner of the market that appreciates local-only especially if you can find a good offspring. Would give the tourists a better story to take home than "I smoked some Skittles in Thailand."

Would be a project though as I would assume most of the local stuff is prone to hermie? If so, you'd have to sort through loads of examples to find a true breeding pair. Could take years.

I don’t think they even bother separating out males. Just use the seeds for next grow. In the wild might just be that strain from 10 years ago when some pollen got on the wind. Laos is where Thai is meant to have come from in say the last 80 years.

Growers Notes:

A nightmare to pop. Finally we got to now, 2 in Solo Airpots. First 3 got zero past an inch. Second three got 2/3 so 2/6 I have read of no one else having issues with them. I’ve had no issues like that since my 0/25 GSC debacle. It seems like just a bad batch @RoyalQueenSeeds Thailand said they offer a single seed compensation per 10 failures. Only single order - no coffee loyalty card stamps, 10 seeds fail same strain they’ll give you one free seed when shopping with them in Thailand. The shipping gets zero points too. Out of 5 individual orders none came in under a week. Its generally overnight or 2 days. I won’t be using them here again.

I want to be clear - this was just a bad batch of seeds. The rest of the many Royal Queen Seeds in this grow have generally been a pleasure. Royal Purple and Hulkberry are following this strain and are great. Then a little slice of customer service in Thailand. Stuff is generally like this!

After they finally stabilised in half solo/SWICKs we up potted to the pots they're in now - a nightmare! Thought we’d lost both at one point. Yellow and horrible. One went on flush. Then suddenly they’re normal. They wanted less water than any then more water than any. Now normal. Looks like flower is taking hold. Rubbish photos! I was distracted by the 21 plants being repotted to the left of shot.

Strain Notes:

Wedding Cake x Purple Punch 55% Sativa 45% Indica and up to 21% THC
Tallish at 150-180cm indoor. They can have about the lowest of that maximum here!
500g per m2 indoor and 9-10 weeks flowering. Going to be with them for a while 😅

Nick

Seed viability is greatly, and negatively, affected by fluctuating heat and humidity so its quite possible the local distributor has less than ideal storage conditions?

Glad you got one to pop at least!
I also got:
Royal Purple
Royal Gorilla
Hulkberry
Royal Cookies

I killed a Gorilla, broke its neck taking it out of paper and the Hulkberry got dodgy roots on repotting badly to a SIP. The rest all no problems. I think it was a bad batch, seeds taken from a mother with some issue rather than storage. Coupled with full on, Award Winning, Thaistyle customer service it annoyed me!

This has blown, the CMH bulb. Its got a really nice heft to it. And and old school smell. Electrics all checked out. I could get a new one or open the other spare light and use that one but I’ll pass. Using one of these with like a 4200k bulb in for veg and switch to 3000k HPS maybe? Or even in the same 315w CMH - honestly for a 4x4 you wouldn’t need anything more. It probably beats my no name 320w LED and costs the same - about $150 tops.

But what you save on CapEx you pay back multiples of in OpEx - its the greater levels of HVAC you have to have to keep it nice in there as well as the light burning.

I know what I’m going to grow in this tent after this grow. Its a single plant SIP. Got the seeds and every thing. I’m not sure the light yet. Pretty sure it won't be one of these but I haven’t harvested anything yet - maybe its markedly better!

Growers Notes:
Not much to say really. Not quite as quick as the CBD Warlock out of the traps but then cruised ahead of pretty much everything but the Royal Gorilla. Classic indica, bushy, fat leaves, squat. No drama whatsoever. I have one on the main grow from the same batch 3/3 popped. This is the one that made me forgive RQS for the Wedding crasher. Joy.

Some bonus pictures of her sister. A few of them start to droop before evening feed. Her sister does. Here she is

Ten minutes later in the red circle she’s perked up already.

Strain Notes:

Hindu Kush x Purple Afghani - better know as Purple Kush. 25% Sativa 75% Indica, height indicated 80-120cm indoor. Health 450-500g per sqm. 22% THC. I think the two we have here are a bit taller than the one in the other grow at just 70cm. These have had gas for a while now. Sis has just started. looking forward to them.

Growers Notes:

Oh the disappointment. Sorta. Not the seeds fault. So this is basically Gorilla Glue #4, we grew 6 indoors from clone and one outdoor as a giant mother. We averaged 200g a plant which was good and its my go to on a Friday night after work when I want to try and stop thinking. We popped 3. I killed one dropping it as I went to remove from the paper and snapped its neck with the tweezer. That left two and they were the early leaders, but the one below was way slower and much less nodes. The other went in a SIP. Basically repotting it from a full Solo in DWC to a SIP 2/3 the size was where it started to go wrong. When the light changed to HPS from LED she also stalled. Now despite flushes, aerating the medium she is still thin leaved and barely growing. The one below just truck along and is easily the biggest plant in the tent. I caught her between trims so there's before and after photos. A nice plant and I'm very bullish on yield. Sh

Strain Notes:

She's Gorilla Glue #4. From memory mega diesel smell - well my memory lasts since last night. 24%-26% "up to 30%" THC - ours came out at 16.4% and 0.7% CBG. We'll beat that as I think it was an unrepresentative nug that went. It spangles me. 8 weeks, heavy producer. This one remains a bit skinnier than the bushes we grew before and how her immediate sister looked to grow out until it went wrong. Sour Dubb - Chem Sis - Chocolate Diesel - those are her heritage. 50/50 Hybrid. RQS play down the yields but ours were decent given our experience at the time. We'd have staked better we would have got 20% more. This one is growing for two so she'd better deliver!

4-5 days growth gone in a few minutes a plant. And so our attention, inevitably, turns to yield wild speculation, exaggeration, mistruths, confidence and fear.

My only experience in growing normally to harvest in a Solo was my Strawberry molly in a SIP. I flipped her young in a rush to harvest and pruned her loads.

IMG_4111.jpeg

She was a beaut and went a bang on ounce no popcorn. She’s kinda diminutive though. My girls are all 70cm already. She was 30cm max. The top of that 420 Mag photo is 40cm so less pot.

So average an oz a plant we have nice and easy 16 plants - 16oz = 1lb.

But these plants are giantesses compared to her. What about 2oz per plant? Well we’ll skip ahead the tricky maths and we have:

2lb = 906g well since we’re there 4 more ounces give’s us 112g for 1018g aka 1.018 Kilos

36oz / 16 plants = 2.25oz average. Or 63 grams per plant.

Is this wizardry possible? Stay tuned and find out but my eyes and my head say yes. Depends on the strains and the individual plant but all of them have the potential to blast through 63g’s in normal pots.

@BeanTownFan420 what do you reckon? You grow small and many indoor, right?

We’re only Day #5 of flower for 15 of them and the single auto is on Day #39/80 and already budding.

But yeah over a 2lb/1kg grow in a 4x4 tent? I think back to seeing video of the professional orbital medical grow facility on Youtube. They grow baby plants - like 8 per wheel. Maybe it is a more efficient way to chase yield?

Nick

If get 10 to 12 grams a clone every 8 weeks and fill my tent I yield more than 3 month veg plant does in three months easy. Every three small clones yields one ounce of nugs 25 will fit in a tent do the math. Sea of green is unbeatable in time spent money spent and over all yield in time.
Yeah, but plant counts... *sigh*

I vegged reasonably long - some were popped back in June. Just a bit of inane speculation. This grow wasn’t done for sale just for fun and adventure! Just having an ounce of a strain to sell isn’t very interesting to a dispensary I guess.

Though with the new sales guy maybe that’s different. Selling a whole plant might be interesting. Photo them before harvest and offer to trim how they like for individuals - for all of them they’ll be plenty dried and cured by the time the tourists return en masse.

I am really interested in getting the maximum efficient yield from a 4x4 though (all things being equal) One giantess or 4 normal or indeed 16 tiddlers - though these are stretching the definition of “tiddlers”’already. There’s nothing difficult about the setup. Irrigation could be done with a gravity feed from outside the tent because individually done its a bit of a pain.

Anyway - I’m putting it out there. Bit of a challenge to my self. 32oz - 2lb with 36oz probably too much, especially with the one dodgy SIP.

“There’s many a twist twixt the cup and the lip” Its about golf but seems appropriate here.
