Nick Hardy's Skunk Works #1 10 Strains 18 Solo Cups 4x4 HPS/CMH: Thailand!

No but have an auto or two planning on growing to harvest in a SWICK. Probably pop them in a few weeks?
I know you already have a lot going on that you are documenting, but would you be willing to pay close attention to them so that we can see what happens with the root system etc. in relation to their condition? There are a handful of people swicking now, with mixed results.

Lights Out

Not sure I imagined it (there were 4-5 people in the carport at the time and they didn’t say anything) but a bang and then thepower for the whole house cycled. Off back on. So quick my TV didn’t turn off. It happens sometimes due to network supply. Think its a phase going out or something.

Went downstairs and the CMH was off. Not sure but bulb looks OK. The first day I switched them on I had them into a 16A builders grade extension cable. After 5 minutes the fuse popped. I moved the CMH into a dedicated socket next to the board and all has been fine until today. Weird. Temps are way down. The family were all eating soup with hoodies on and hotpot for dinner. Its 26c so temps are all good. Weird.

I centred the HPS and I’ll have a think about whether or not to replace it tomorrow. I was going to switch it off for flower anyway. I’m loving the 315w and 2+ Amp draw on the board disappearing though.

Then to the problem Royal Gorilla in a SIP.

IMG_5278.jpeg

Azi in their sig has this link:

Which is actually a quote of a link ResDog posted. Its a pictorial of how to diagnose leaf problems. Best I’ve seen easy. Photos waaay better (multiples of each) than anything I’ve seen before. I’ve gone with Zinc def. So added some foliar kelp type spray and about to flush with a Ph 5.4 feed. Because maximum uptake of Zinc and some other juicy stuff is down there.

I think there was some heat/nute burn maybe as well at the same time as these leaves presented. She’s drinking well again and responding when she is fed not coming back to green. But have a look at the link if you fancy it and have a guess away - or call it as you see it!

Nick.

Think maybe the Royal Gorilla is showing signs of improvement. She got more 5.4 both times today.

Gonna give her another 5.4 day tomorrow. Trim and Train them all. 3 pots have minor irrigation issues we’ll fix them and then flip tomorrow. Their evening feed will be Bloom A/B

Dynomyco delivered a few days back but only opened it today. Normally I get it in plain white tubs as its not licensed here. But “Philosopher Stoned” - a local online store I buy from sent me the real packaging and a cap! Both I won in the @DYNOMYCO challenge which started this whole grow. It got shipped to the UK but I got some swag anyway!

Nick

IMG_5303.jpeg

Think we’re nearly nearly ready to go.
They got a trim today. Final roll call nearly decided. We had put a Seriotica in there but she’s too young, low yielder too - she’s gone back to veg/clone, maybe a Mimosa x Orange Punch will meet the same fate. I’m not sure what we have if anything both in a solo and the right size. Most stuff the right size is now in 1 gallons.

Really would like 16 in there minimum.

IMG_5315.jpeg
IMG_5316.jpeg

The troublesome Royal/Glue Gorilla leaves have flattened out. She got N Mag as a foliar spray green her up a little.

The HVAC got rejigged. Added the second inline to input air. Built a new hood and upgraded the 4” to 6” on the return duct.

IMG_5314.jpeg

Now I can’t get the Rh down 😅

I think a bit of tinkering will see it right by end of day. Just letting it run an hour or to so it stabilises. Its actually chilly here today and rainy AF which is a pain because I’ll set it now and redo in a day or so.

Strain # 1

Strawberry Cheesecake Auto @Barney's Farm

IMG_5317.jpeg

Growers Notes:

Pain to germinate. I got 1/2 and TRNH got 0/3 Since then basically forgotten about it really. Has tracked along nicely. Day #33 today and she’s in very early flower. Bit bigger than those popped same time as her.

Strain Notes

25% Sativa 75% Indica
Strawberry Pie x Afghan OG x BF Super Auto #1

Up to 140cm and 650g p/m2 indoor.

Described as normal strength other seedbanks have it at around 15%

In tent 1x

I’ll rattle off each strain over the next week or so.

Nick

Bit busy and bored at the same time today. Not done the two things I needed to achieve yet today, go to the Post Office and murder builders.

This morning switched to Bloom A/B and adjusted the light timer. Day #1 Flower starts tomorrow. But….

We have flower in the house! Strawberry Cheesecake making a run at it on Day #34

Strain ‘o the Day - Strain #2 Blueberry

Blueberry

IMG_5330.jpeg

These were freebies from a non sponsor (annoyed that didn't happen) Most likely they are Dutch Passion, Zambeza or Spliff Seeds Is this what bag seed is? Dunno. DJ Short was the guy back in the 70s in California apparently.

Growers Notes:

Popped 3/4 but one died as a seedling. Some root issue when up potted. Other than that a breeze. A bit slower smaller than the average but really straight forward. The two that remain could be clones of each other so a very stable strain it seems.

Strain Notes:

25% Sativa, 75% Indica. Tests to about 19% THC
“(Chocolate Thai x Afghani #1 x Highland Oaxaca) x NL Special. Fruity slightly earthy aroma and blueberry, sweet flavour. Heavy, compact buds” that’s what Spliff Seeds say.
Dunno how true that is. 80-120cm and 8-10 weeks.

She is the same height as the majority - 50-60cm ex pot. One taller than this range and two shorter. Its a pretty even canopy for 16 plants.

IMG_5328.jpeg
IMG_5329.jpeg

This one is the SIP one the Airpot one is a little bigger bushier. This had some yellowing and slow down due to some possibly Zinc/Ph related issue that her sister SIP had as well.

Didn’t enjoy opening the control box to adjust the light timer whilst standing on a ladder in a puddle of water 😅
Probably an aluminium ladder too🤦‍♂️
Don't go doing yourself in before you post that seed
Just joking, you don't get too many second chances with power

Second? Lol.

When I was 3-4 years old got 440v blew me across a pavement into the road. Car just missed me.

In SA 220v light fitting cable not made safe by electrician during my restaurant construction. Hanging from the ceiling.

Not a shock but electrical related - soldering iron at school. Burnt myself. On the way home from badminton inter school match eating a Snickers bar realised it was a little infected. 6 hours later Inwas in hospital finger twice the size. They operated and ai lost my nail on that finger for 6 months plus. Same finger as this one! Can't stomach the thought of a Snickers bar to this day.

Think there’s one more.

(Council for that first one still hadn’t made that weird socket safe 25 years later when I last saw it. My Dad said he thinks it was some War/Secret bunker emergency ring. Asked a guy he was vague about. So I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what it was - he knows people! In the grass verge around a city building.

So yeah my lives def up now!

As flipped to 12/12 (8am - 8pm) its a slightly more sociable hour to get a lights out shot.

Truer colours - that Royal Gorilla front right really is bright green still. Improvement over yellow though. Pretty even canopy apart from the other Royal G in the back left corner.

Humidity off the charts already less than 2 hours after lights out. But I have a plan!

EDIT Plan Worked. This is lights out. Its 28c and 50% RH with lights on. I have conquered the environment!

Yay,

Nick

I thought I was accident prone. :Namaste: Holy Moly.
Too bad we can't sit down and swap those stories.
I've got a couple that gave me curly hair 🤣
The little tidbits you give us here and there are great.
It's a miracle we both made it.

Strain ‘o the Day

Slurricane Anesia Seeds

IMG_5352.jpeg

Growers Notes:

2/2 with these. They epitomise basically 90% of the strains grown in this tent. Slow and steady and no drama. Two nice near identical plants both in airpots. There is one big NB here - the seeds were mixed up in the soaking cup by L my farming assistant. We think when we up potted to these final homes we separated them successfully by leaf shape from the CBD Warlock. All 6 still look very very similar though. Looking for tiniest differences in leaf shape. Need them to start showing some differences in flower to confirm. I’ll do the Warlock next.

IMG_5350.jpeg
IMG_5351.jpeg

Strain Notes:

I read a while back its America’s favourite strain at the moment. 40% Sativa 60% Indica. Up to 30% THC

Do-Si-Dos (Nor-Cal-Cut) x Purple Punch

A refinement of two older parents. Very resinous apparently. Looking forward to it.

Stretch started. Minimum canopy height in there is 70cm now. It was clear to the eye when I looked in this morning. The one Royal Gorilla is 85-90 and the Strawberry Cheesecake Auto from the other day is as well now.

Its a pretty cool sight to behold in there!

It amazes me how big you can get them in those cups and they still look happy.
:goodjob:

:passitleft:

Have you seen @Cola Monster ‘s Solo Cups? Between the @DYNOMYCO challenge and him it gave me the idea to do this. His are giant lollipops way taller than these, I think its a 90 day veg? They just end up as a mass of roots and not much medium. Apart from with… SIPs…

Just realised why that Gorilla is maybe struggling - it has run out of root growth space. Hmm, repot to the same maybe pure perlite later today I think.

I wonder… thanks Absorber

Unbelievable production from a Dixie cup. Damn. 8 nice long stemmed colas. Wait til you see how frosty the Slurricane gets. Lol. When I grew it I kept having to look twice in flower to make sure what I was seeing was masses of trichomes and not white mold.

Hope I get to see lots of them. The mini humidifier didn’t switch off last night. Caught it 4 hours after lights out. With its orange, green and blue gently pulsing lights.

Meh. 2nd night of 12/12. Hope that’s OK,
Gotta be, right 😅

The temp/rh sensor seems to have not recorded over properly overnight. It def got cold and dry in there I see lows of 22c and 49% at 2am and 8am so you know what Greta Thunberg? I am Lord of the Environment. I bend it to my will. You? High School dropout. Amateur. I am a two time college drop out and can control the environment. Go back to school Greta, if only so you can drop put of college a couple of times.

Other than that they jumped an inch over night. Need to short out their vertical growth a touch.
