Newly transplanted clones wilting

Hey everyone- so I just started my first grow using clones. I have 4 clones, different strains. 2 days after transplant the two smaller ones are starting to wilt, one of them very badly. I have given them all about a cup of water a day, maybe a little less. They are in a grow tent, and Im using a full spectrum LED that puts out 200w. I just moved the wilting ones closer to the light, hoping that may help. They were about 2 feet from the light. Am I overwatering or doing something wrong? Any advice welcomed!

When you got them, were they bare root or in soil? And what soil did you plant them into?

And then you would have soaked the new soil thoroughly ...

I see what looks like dark patches, like you recently watered ... It looks like the roots aren't hooking up yet. If you just watered the middle of the pots, that might be a problem. They should have burst to life when they hit that new soil.

Rather than do 100 questions, here's how I would have done it. I'd be sure the soil was bland, not hot - no added helpful nutes - and I'd have filled the pots with soil. Then I would have dug out enough for the clone, set it gently but firmly into the space and packed soil back aound it. Then I would have slowly soaked the pot a quart/liter at a time until I was sure it was completely soaked and water runs out the bottom. I'd set it under good strong light, but not as close as a rooted plant. Then I'd just watch and wait and expect to water again a week later or more. In a week, with rooted clones in rockwool, they should be growing new leaves.

Thanks- so maybe I underwatered? The soil itself had a decent moistness to it to begin with, but maybe I just need to add more water? I did primarily just give it about a cup of water near the middle, thinking thats where the roots were.

Ah.

Yes, soak those pots pronto. If that's it, the really limp one will spring back fast. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Remember, in rockwool, they're used to constant water - nothing "moist" about rockwool.

Thanks! Ill update in a few days to let you know if it did the trick, Im going to try the clear cup trick for the next 24hrs or so and see if that helps too. Also- any quick advice on space? My tent is 3' x 2' x 5'- is 4 clones too much? Ive only grown from seed so am not sure, thinking of using scrog.

Sounds like a nice fit for short indicas, yup. I generally run 2.5 sqft for a 24 inch sativa dom. That gets me 2.5 oz.

You'll have 1.5 sqft per indica, although (my two cents) I wouldn't scrog short indicas in that space - I'd just let 'em each grow an apical cola.

I hope that's it and it goes well from here!
