Newish

Hello,
I have been cruising around this site on and off as a guest for years and have finally created an account. I have also started my first grow journal here, Phantom’s RDWC Cherry Cookies Grow Journal

I have not grown in a decade nor have I grown indoor or hydroponic for that matter. My experience has been gorilla growing in the expansive deciduous and coniferous forests of the Upper Midwest during summer.

My first journal may start off a little slow until my plant and clones have been confirmed female. I think once I finally get started, it will be a fun ride, including the fall upgrades I have already started to make. There will be a lot of learning and mistakes along the way I’m sure since I’m learning a completely different grow style than I’m used to. I like to call my old way of growing the Ron Co. Special of “Set it and forget it!” with the gorilla grows. The hydroponic grow style seems a little more intensive than my “set it and forget it” style.

In the decade I was not growing I had an established 300 gallon planted aquarium with Discus and other exotic freshwater fish. Discus require r/o to keep from peppering and are notoriously difficult to keep with live plants due to their nature to eat them and the differences between the fish need of pure r/o water and the plants need for nutrients and co2 rich water. It was a delicate game I played for years until I eventually moved and sold my aquarium. The principles are the same and a lot of the equipment and know how is the same which leads me to believe I will have great success with hydroponics. I actually have a bunch of regulators, micro needle valves and automatic solenoid valves from my aquarium co2 I’m thinking of converting over for use in my tent.

I am a vegetable/fruit/herb gardener and will be using the Mega Crop waste water from my RWDC water changes to feed my garden, with hopefully great results, driving my grows towards zero waste. I will probably document my garden for S&Gs along with my grow.

I also intend to dabble with butane solvent extraction process (closed loop system) further down the road this fall/winter once I have my hydroponic skills honed in. I have already found a closed loop extractors I’ve taken a shine to along with a vacuum oven. I’m saving my pennies and started preparing a clean room to perform the extractions in. Honestly I’m pretty lazy and the thought of having to trim all the bud produced from an eventual setup of (3) 4.5’x4.5’ RDWC LED Mega Crop tents has me shaken. I have grown accustomed to vape pens and oils for the amazing terpenes they have along with not nearly as much red eye and skunky cologne you get after smoking. To me the process sounds like a win-win.

Thank You.

Welcome to the forum @The Phantom
i subbed to your journal. Looking forward to see few pictures on there. :hookah:
here is a link that gives you the idea on making your journal How to Make a Grow Journal

Welcome aboard, Mega crop seems to be a very popular choice this year. Best of luck, as you know the very best knowledge base is just a request away :welcome:
As you can tell I’ve been doing some research on the journals here for a while and after little deliberation, I have decided to use MC. As my high school wood shop/drafting/drivers ed teacher taught me “KISS”. His other saying was “I don’t get mad, I get even.” Just hearing myself say that has my finger tips aching from the 1”x1” he would carry around. It’s hard to deny the lure of a one bag product of an entire grow over multiple bottles. The cost savings is the “just wait and we will double your offer” and from the result I’ve seen that’s the added bonus of “free shipping and a little bonus gift” of the product.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. The pictures are on hold at the moment until all the kinks are worked out and I’m positive I have some girls growing.

It’s a shame I won’t be able to pop any of the feminized photo seeds from @SeedsMan that are arriving on Saturday in the event my clones turn out to be male. It seems like I have a plethora of strains to choose from when my order arrives. Those seeds will have to be on hold until September after my bi-yearly family visit of my mom and aunts. It wouldn’t be a big deal as I would plan for my grow to be in a vegetative state but this time they are visiting I will be gone for 5 days on a solo hiking trip and don’t want anything left to be discovered.

After they leave, well that’s when the fun and magic of 3 grow setups will happen with 4 plants of 3 different strains as a nice Xmas tree grow journal I will start in the fall.

Until then things will move at a snails pace on here as things in the real world will move more quickly as deliveries are made and grow tents and plants are setup and in place.

There are many Phantoms out there. I decided to choose Fatoush Hakbarah aka “Phantom” from You Don’t Mess with the Zohan because he is by far the most relatable Phantom to me, plus I’m probably one of the few die hard Adam Sandler fans left it seems like. Funny story I met AS about 9 months ago at a restaurant in town. He has a house in a private community in the foothills nearby. I was lucky enough to grab a name that describes perfectly what I’ve been doing on here the past few years, being a phantom, always there but never seen and my type of slapstick man child humor all in one. Plus all the stock photos from the movie I can use as my photo is a plus.

It might not be a photo of my current grow but I’d like to see anyone on this Forum have the patience to wait the 75-100 years for that first arm you see on that cactus in the photo to grow. It just started growing last year and was the size of a golf/tennis/soft ball all throughout the summer. This year it’s the size of a ruby ball and I’m guessing will be 3-4 feet long by fall. One can only wonder what some MC and regular watering can do for it. You can literally see the girth of cactus swell and shrink with the amount of water it takes in.
