Newbie with some questions!

What UP!??!!!!

Ok so, my plants are 2 weeks old today, I have not been using any kind of exhaust other than opening the doors to the wardrobe they are growing in about 3 times a day. I spray the plants and the top of the soil every time I open it, not to much, just enough to keep the top of the soil moist. I water once in the mornings every day. I have been running my light 24/7 and have 3 little fans on constantly to stir up the air inside (they are not powerful so dont worry). I know its getting close to start changing the light cycle and transport them to bigger pots, however they arent very tall..... I am not sure what the normal size is for a two week old plant. Is not having an exhaust hurting my plants? My temp seems a little high also. it stays in the mid 80's all the time. I dont have a lot of money to be going and getting an exhaust fan or other equipment otherwise I totally would. Is it wise to maybe drill holes in the back for a little bit of an exhaust even if it doesnt have a fan pulling out the air?

Grow Space:

6' tall wardrobe about 2.5' wide and 2.5' deep.
foil on non shiny side covering inside.
1x 6400k light about 3'' from top of plants.
using bottled water to water plants.
I am using a soil mix I got from the hydroponics store.
3 very small fans circulating air around the inside.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!
:peace:

Re: Newbie with some questions!!

why do you want to keep the soil moist? curious...dont water daily.....wait till they are dry and then water them.
mid 80s is fine but you will need some more light (UNLES YOUR AT 250W NOW)
more light is more heat..keep that in mind
the soil mix should have some basic nutes that last about 2-3 weeks...you will be needing something to add shortly...ask your plant person for a recomendation
start at 50% of the bottles recomendation and work up
pics would be very helpfull

Re: Newbie with some questions!!

I read somewhere to keep the top of the soil moist. I'll start checking and just water when it's dry. As far as the light goes I am not sure the watts, I'll check and post pics up. Thanks for the help.

Re: Newbie with some questions!!

Hey bro. at home cheapo or whatever hardware store. they have those little 70 or 100 watt hps lamps. itll cost like 50 to get one. and i noticed you said you have a floro in there. that 70 will work great in there. way better than just the floro. you could keepp the floro too.
anyway as far as exhaust. cant you just cut some holes in back of it to let air in? i know you said you dont have the money but for like 15 bucks you can get an 8 inch fan made to vent stuff. they come with the seal and all. just plug it in. then its ur choice weather it takes air in or expells it.

i didnt really understand was the venting the only issue? or is your plant acting crazy? like shriveled leafs and shit.
just went back an read. so if your able to keep the door open a little and the plants are growing well then you have enough exhaust.
my vent in my 5 by 5 room is a big fan at the open door. no other vents. i have a 400hps and a 600hps 8 5 gals. room temp is a constant 78f w/ 50% hummidity. they thrive. they still thrive if i shut the door and hang the fan. the temp will jump to 82f but they are fine.

Re: Newbie with some questions!!

I would let them grow another few days to a week than set them into flower.

never underestimate how fast the roots grow. when you transplant make sure it's in it's final pot. and make them as big as your closet can accommodate. but also note that the bigger the pot usually means the bigger the plant. so you'll have to decide what you want to do.

as long as you maintain ventilation at least once a day for maybe an hour or so or a few times a day for various spans of time you should be alright. an exhaust system would be ideal, but if you can't afford it you can't afford it.

watch for light leaks, when you set them into flower make sure it's pitch black. no light at anytime during dark period. careful not to over water, or you'll cause yourself some nasty problems. but don't under water or you'll stunt them.

Probably more than you were asking but for a first timer it is good info to know. there is always more to learn.
