Newbie: with an active first grow happening

Hey all, former regular smoker (15 years) who gave daily smoking up for a decade (imbibed once in a blue moon and ate a few edibles along the way lol)....but, this year with Covid and all, when a friend offered me some seeds and it being legal in my area to grow now..figured I'd try a little experiment.

I lurked for a bit to try and learn as much as I could...I mean, who wants to be that guy who gets called out for not reading a bit/using the search function, right? lol

But now I'm feeling like I am in over my head, or at least might be panicking a bit due to the fast-approaching fall temperatures.

I've got 8 plants going right now that some here will probably laugh a bit at. I admittedly started suuuuper late (early June), right from seeds.

Think what I'm going to do is mosey on over to the Grow section and post the (extensive) pics I took to aid me in getting some advice..if anyone wants to follow me over there, amazing!

Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Apparently the forum doesnt like my HEIC photos so gotta do a batch convert. I raise the bat-signal when I've got a post going...thanks!

the forum doesnt like my HEIC photos

The forum software does not (yet?) support it. Yes, Apple's iOS 11 and later, Apple's macOS High Sierra and later, Microsoft's Windows 10 (version 1803 and later), newer linux distros, Android 9 and later operating systems support the image format. And GIMP, Adobe Lightroom, ImageMagick, and other image display/manipulation software also supports it.

However, as far as I know, no web browser (with the possible exception of Apple's Safari) natively supports that image format. The only major manufacturers that appear to have any real interest in using it as the default choice appear to be Apple and (as of last year) Canon. Newer Samsung cell phones can use it for images and videos, but I think they're not set that way by default.

Therefore, I think it will probably be a while before most online forum software adds support for the format. As of right now, there would be no point, lol. There is a section of the forum for reporting forum-related issues, posting bug reports, and such. You can - and probably should, IMHO - post a thread asking the owner of the forum to pass along a request to the developer to add an automatic HEIC converter to the forum's member image gallery upload routine (and, I suppose, to the message image attachment routine, although I wish he'd just do away with that thing and go back to having everyone upload images to their gallery). The people who create/maintain Internet forum software will be more likely to consider adding an oft-requested feature than one that is only requested by a few people.

Er... I started out just planning to state that the forum's software doesn't support the file format (in other words, it's not something the owner/administrator decided). And to post this for you:

Yeah I used iMazing's free batch convert, worked a charm.

Thanks for the tip on doing a Grow Journal...I considered this, but then figured it might be a bit sloppy Joe for a few reasons: 1. I'm probably mere days away from harvesting at least 3 or 4 of them, and 2. I really did it outdoor/gorilla style, no real extra care or daily routine that can't be summed up in a paragraph or two...so my idea was I'd create 2 posts: 1 in the Budding Cycle subsection, and 1 in the Curing section (because I have some options to consider).

I just wanna say that my pre-joining reading really illuminated just how many "assets" I have to be a home grower. I actually have choices! The one thing I don't have alot of, however, is consistent direct sunlight in my yard where I can just leave the plants there for 10 hours a day. My entire yard is ringed with trees so I have to be strategic in moving them around with the sun. I'm pretty sure my neighbours, if they haven't already been tempted to call the feds on me for having 2x the legal amount of personal plants (at one point 3x until I discarded the males lol) - they surely think I'm nuts for obsessively chasing the sun a few times per day with my plants LOL
