Newbie Grower

Hey all. New to the group. I’m currently set in with my first grow and of course I would like to know if my babies are on track.

Germinated March 5th.

3 seeds from 420. The fruity mix pack.

Blackberry kush
Banana kush
Mango kush

However I had to start the germination process over after day 7 on the blackberry so it’s little behind the others at the moment. I was hoping I could post some pics of my set up and if anyone can help point out some flaws that would be really helpful.

I’m running 5 gallon uline food grade buckets, for each. I have new net pots in route but I’m using the ones I already had laying around in the mean time. I’m using (new) fish tank filter system with pump and uv light. The only media in the filter itself is a sponge and one bag of pellets. I figured if I was using a pump anyways to operate my rdwc system I could use the canister as the Reservoir/pump/light filter, although I ended up adding a separate Reservoir anyways. Again, I’m new to all this so I may have this all kinds of wrong which is why I am seeking advice.

Ppm=400
Ec=.8
Ph=5.8
2000w led set to flux of 20,000=513 umol/s/m2 (supposedly)
Temp=80 degrees light on 75 degrees light off
Humidity=60-70% r/h
Water temp=79 degrees


I’m already seeing the first set of leaves 5 fingers but it just seems like they should be taller from all other pics I’ve seen on the interweb at same time frames. Or maybe I’m just thinking into it too much? Their sleeping at the moment but in a couple hours I’ll upload fresh pics if that’s allowed? Is there anything else I forgot to add?

Lol that’s awesome! They’ll be getting up in 3 hours so I’ll throw a few pics up. I’m still finishing up adding some outlets and seedling/cloning shelves so it’s still a little under construction. It’s a working progress lol.

Man that’s so awesome!! I really appreciate that fellas. Here are a few pics. I’m growing for 100% personal use after spine surgery so I’m not trying to break records. However I’d love to have the patience’s and knowledge to grows some crazy great sites and smells. Give myself a little high five for my time. It’s all still a working progress but any tips or flaws anyone can point out is much appreciated as I would rather be set up for success than reacting to issues.

When the new net cups arrive I’ll drop them into a more proper fitted top but for now these block all light into bucket. Roots aren’t into the water yet anyhow. I still feed some thru top and I have my air stones blowing nuts onto the bottom of the net cups.

If it was me ...... before they get too big I would take the pump output and run it into a manifold with each pot with its own shut-off valve. You are already using flexible lines for the pump, you may want to do the same to the pots. There will come a time when you won't want to move them all at the same time.

Thanks you to man!! I’m so excited to see these things grow. I’m a sucker for the fruity blends, I also always wondered and wanted to try for myself 100% sativa vs 100% indica. Last night I ordered durboun poison and grand daddy purp. I can’t wait til they grow to bloom and I can finally see for myself what difference the 2 has on my body. I also ordered some Tropicana cookies, blue mix pack and purple mix pack. I’d like to get really good at growing them short and stocky and full of goodness!!!

Buy yourself an anchor and some rope! You're going to need it tied around your ankle!

Please either turn off or disconnect the ultra violet light. Ultra violet light filters work in water by flocculating the suspended solids in water so they may be filtered out and will negatively interact with chemical fertilizers and cause the nutrients to bind to solid forms and not be usable to the cannabis plants.

The water temperature is high, 69- 74 Fahrenheit or 19 - 23 Celsius is ideal for cannabis growth. Consider relocating the water filter and reservoir assembly outside of the grow area and using insulation on the supply lines to minimize heat.

The cannabis seedling is stretching excessively indicating the light is not intense enough, the light appears to be mounted too high. What is the distance from the plants to the light source? Do you know what the LED lights actual wall outlet power draw is in watts?

What is the bag of pellets you refer to? Are the pellets ceramic, quartz, zeolite or carbon?

There is a rule for using electricity and water in the same enclosed space. Electrical only above the waist, water only bellow the waist. Water spillage is an eventuality.

Please safely locate the electrical connections higher up so they are not in danger of becoming wet.

Please cover the red light on the power bar as the red light will negatively effect cannabis plants in the dark cycle of the day.

If possible try to use 2x rope ratchets to mount your LED light in case the ratchet fails to lock properly to avoid damage. To set the upper and lowest travel point on the rope ratchet for the LED light a double knot can be tied and secured by a trimmed zip tie before the knot to set a upper and low travel point for easy height adjustment.

Absolutely not. I welcome it my friend. As I will like to follow your grow as well. Question. I have new ac infinity 6”. I’ve only used it past day or so. I’ve noticed a weird sweet type of smell. It’s got me freaking out about mold but surely it isn’t mold? Only been in here for 10 days. Air moves great so that’s another reason I wouldn’t think it would be mold. I wiped down this tent 2 times a week with antibacterial wipes as well. I’m hoping it’s the carbon filter?
