Hello everyone. First timer here. Have two seedlings growing, but rather slowly. They are in subpar soil and I don't have any idea what the Ph is. Have some Happy Frog soil and a Ph tester ariving tomorrow, so won't bother you with questions until I sort that out. Plants look healthy, just not doing much. Hope to turn this around soon. Thanks again.

Welcome,LowcountrySC,to 420 :welcome:

Once you get them situated,we're here to help!
See you around the forum...

How large of a pot are they in right now?
The roots may surprise you-one reason they aren't doing much now may be because they're rootbound in their containers-the root systems on these plants get real big real fast.
If they're in solo cups now, just leave all the subpar soil on them, and plant them in a larger container of "the good stuff"

Thanks. One is in a container slightly larger than a solo cup. The other is in a container slightly larger than that. Hate to admit it, but they are in Miracle Grow NPK .1, .05, .05. Just got my Ph tester and my water is 7.5. Maybe I'll get my Ph in line before I start digging them up. Thanks again for your help!

Have them in Happy Frog now and Ph under control. The taller one, the one that was in Miracle Grow, doesnt look as green as the other one. Not sure if I should be using a spray bottle to water or water till runoff? Also not sure about when to add nutes. Also have a 600w led that is 102w at the wall. Since it runs so cool, should it be right on them

No nutrients yet , soil 30 days . You need this proper way to water @Emilya will help you greatly!

Do you use a spray bottle or do you fill solo cup with water until runoff? Thanks
You want to water them to runoff-water them slowly so it doesn't all run through right off the bat-
you want the soil in the cup to be uniformly wet,top to bottom-then (and this is the important part)
don't water them again till the cup is light as a feather-this is the way to do it for a healthy root system-
healthy roots = healthy plant.
Can't tell from the pics, but you need some drain holes in the bottom of the cups,or they'll drown.

Watering with a spray bottle only helps if you unscrew the top,and dump the water into the cup:)

Yeah, that should do it-as long as there's a way for the excess to drain, that's all you need.
I notice the cotyledons are yellow on the taller one, which usually means just about all
the nutes in them are depleted and it's time to feed a little, but it seems too early for that...
I don't know much about Happy Frog-does it have some nutes built in?

The taller one is the oldest one and was in Miracle Grow. It is 16 days old.. The cotyledons are yellow and the leaves a very pale green. I'm thinking a combination of bad soil and over watering? It was just transplanted to the Fox Farm Happy Frog soil 2 days ago and it does have nutes in the soil. Hoping I don't kill all three! I was also wondering about how close my light should be. 600W led. Since it puts out very little heat, should it be as close to the plants as possible or a certain distance from them? I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. Thanks

That tall one kind of worries me-you can't really hit it with any strong nutes,or it might kill it-it's already a little on the sick side-probably just leave it as-is for a few days and see if the happy frog nutes kick in and green it up a little-those yellow leaves probably won't green up,but if the nutes are right, the new growth should come in green, and not yellow..
The LED should be 28-30 inches from the top of the seedlings at this age, keep an eye out for any stretching-
If they start to stretch, lower the light about 4" at a time till they stop it.
A little stretch right now isn't going to hurt them-if they get "too tall",you can just bury them a little deeper when you transplant them next time.
Stretching would be like if they grow an inch taller overnight-right now, they should actually be concentrating on growing roots and leaves,-any added height should come from the top of the plant, and not just the stem getting longer.

No problem-this is what I do while I'm waiting for my plants to grow...;)
Hey Carcass. Hope it's ok to add on to this thread. They all seem to be doing better now that i raised the light and figured out how to water them. The closet i have them in is pretty hot during the day(pushing 90) and down to about 80 in the evening. I noticed one leaf on one plant canoeing. I was originally going to grow these outdoors. Can they go outside for some time and back indoors? Here's a pic so you can see what i have. Thanks.
