As the deadline arrives for companies to apply for New York's five medical marijuana licenses, at least one applicant is planning to include the Southern Tier in its operations.
A Buffalo-based doctors group called Farmed is looking to establish its growing and processing facility in the Buffalo area, but one of its four dispensaries would be located in the town of Chenango.
These dispensaries would be where people would go to pick up prescribed marijuana, since pharmacies are prohibited from supplying it.
The exact location of the Chenango dispensary has not been released.
The state is awarding only five medical marijuana licenses, and set today as the deadline for companies to apply.
