The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has started accepting applications to provide medical marijuana to potentially qualifying patients and designated caregivers.
This is a pre-registration period for the Therapeutic Cannabis Program, giving people time to prepare before medical marijuana dispensaries are opened in the state.
The department says registry identification cards are not being issued at this time. They will be issued when the Alternative Treatment Center that a qualifying patient has selected obtains an authorization from the program to start dispensing medical marijuana.
It is anticipated that the four centers in New Hampshire will open in the first quarter of 2016.
Applicants who qualify will be sent a letter if they are approved.
