New grow box - Help

Ok I'm thinking of building a stealth box with dimensions of 15" x 15" x 40" tall.. I'm wondering if this will be big enough.. I'll be running CFLs, fans for ventilation and a carbon filter.. I know I'll have to stick with a low growing strain but curious about how many CFLs and fan size.. also if u think of anything I'm forgetting or any info that would be helpful let me know.. thanks..also what strands are best in a small space llike I'm wanting to build

Good morning Sypherz :)

In a space that small, if you had 4 or 5 23w CFLs, it will do well for you :) I would suggest however, if you are using CFLs, that you research SCROG or Main-Lining. They are ways to train you plant to grow low and wide like a table top so to speak. CFLs don't have very good penetration so these method keep the canopy even allowing the CFLs better penetration and will give you better bud development in flower :)

As for a fan, a computer case fan (4 inch) or something similar will move more than enough air for your area :)

Strains is something I really can't give you a good answer on, a lot depends on what you are wanting out of the strain, medical conditions or type of high.

I have only grown 4 strains myself, all of which were Bomb Seed strains. The THC Bomb and Cherry Bomb both yielded well for me indoors

I can PM you, but until you have 50 posts, you want be able to reply back. Its a forum policy to minimize spammers.

Unless its something that would compromise your security, ask it here mate :)

For the height question, with the training I did, they were about 18" above the soil to the canopy

Legal to buy seeds but not to grow LOL That's why we joined this forum, allows us to share ideas without revealing who we are :)

I'd like to help you out mate, but won't give out my email, its my actual name which defeats the purpose of anonymity if I gave it out LOL Until such time it is legal in my country, the only person on here who can contact me outside of this forum is 420 himself :)

I use a Mars II 900 LED in a 42" x 42" grow area, 2 THC Bomb and 2 Cherry Bomb yielded me a little over 300g (12 oz) of bud plus the trim on my 1st grow. I am just getting ready to put some clones from outside into flower, tomorrow maybe.

BTW there are 2 sponsors here, True North Seeds and CropKing seeds that both ship to the states and I've not heard of anyone's order being confiscated by customs from those 2 banks

Someone Recommended Bonza Seed.. A Sponser Of This Site.. But Still Would Not Use A Cc Or Send To Home Address Since It Could Be Tracked. I Was Looking At Going With A Lowryder Cross Auto Fem Seed.. Do U Think Using Cfls Would Yeild Less? Also Thinking About Going 24" X 24" X 40" Now.. Would Give Me More Room To Use Scrog Method.. I Dont Know Of Any Strand That Grows As Low As The Ones U mentioned

If you are thinking autos, you should talk to ATrain and the Beast, they are virtual experts in autos and maximizing yield from them.

As for my plants, I trained them to be low and wide, let untrained they become very large plants. Not one of my outside THC or Cherry Bombs was under 6 feet tall and 3-5' in diameter LOL

Yes that is the purpose of LST, to keep them short and wide.

And I forgot to answer you about CFLs, there are some who do very well with CFLs, but you won't get the same kind of yields that LEDs and HIDs produce. CFLs don't have the intensity of actual grow lights so buds won't be as dense

I like CFLs for vegging, I have never used HID, and I love my LED for flowering but LEDs are more expensive to buy.

There is a lot of controversy about LED vs HID, but in all my research and opinions of others I decided that was the way to go for me.

For me, the fact that LEDs only produce the spectrums needed by the plant makes them more efficient than HIDs that produce spectrums not needed. This together with the fact that terpene and potency of bud grown under LEDs is higher than HID, outweighed the slightly lower yields.

If you are interested in LEDs, check out the Mars Hydro thread here. They are by no means the best LED on the market, but they do well and are significantly cheaper than others. A Mars II 400 would likely do well in your space.
