Greetings,

I recently got three cloes.
northern lights
They were recently made available and the fellow said he had given then some? nutrient.
I put them under a 1 K watt hid lamp at a distance of one foot.

Can you tell if I light burned them or if this is a nutrient burn.
The weather has been cool, but they have been under the light 24 hrs for 4 days.
The light does not feel warmer on the hand than sunlight.

If you mean 1000w (1kw) HPS then 1 foot is extremely close & ye ya more likely have burnt em... hope you like em well done :thumb:

1000w hps should be safe at some where between 2 to 3 foot an air cooled hood would allow you to get the lights even closer to reduce the effect of the inverse square law of light effect.

1. HPS used for vegging are known to produce stretched plants !

2. MH are better for vegging as are T5 tubes cfl's in the 6500k (kelvin) blue spectrum of light.

Thank you Fuzzy Duck,

The clones are new & new to me, ego, The nutrient history is a mystery.
I Will change my lighting immediately, if not sooner.

As they say these days---- My Bad...

Thats more than just nute burn. Those plants are going threw a phosphorus deficiency. The browing on the leaves along with the purple running threw the viens. Is your soil PH'd to 6.0-6.5? Since you just got them maybe the grower wasnt taking care of them. If you plan on transplanting them use bone meal and mix it with the soil. Or make a tea using fruit eating bat guano for fast acting results. And as Fuzz asked what nutes are you using because you can also use the Bloom base nute to fix this issue.

I think you are right on the money.
I am not sure the problem lies in the soil, but my watering with cold water.
also, I had been watering with 8 ph water and that is corrected.
I've also been very vigilant about air temp.
Please bear & stay with me as this plays out.
I value your input.

this is what makes me think nutrient lockout

i DO HAVE 24-8-16 MIRACLEGROW.
i foliar misted the girls(4.5 grams per quart.) because I just sort of flushed the pots with ph 7 water. they can not use anymore pot water at this point in time.

We are headed toward a winter storm & will/could be confined to the house for a few days.
oddly enough, checking the new drawn water, it was ph 7. having it sit out a few days the ph goes up to 8.

the water source is a well. (that is why my problems started by using cold water- outside pressure tank & 51 degree ground temp.)
I WILL lower my watering water to ph 6.0, as you suggest.
I check on these girls 3-4 times a day.
But, I am a firm believer in the old adage "if you screw with something enough, you will end up screwing it up"
I was trying to make some tea out of guano or castings, but was talked into some organic stuff. All the directions on the bag said it was for outdoor plants and to be mixed with the soil...& that place is 30 miles away.
I have some high dollar super grow liquid items (4) but they are ten years old. I did try a little of on on a tomato plant.

Thanks, again,
