new blue lab ph pen help please?

okay well I just bought a new ph pen got tired of the old one the new pen I have is a blue lab pen I watched a video on youtube how to calibrate it it says I have to soak in water for 24 hours I thought id skip that process and let soak for 30 mins and then I tried to calibrate it with the 7.0 ph and it stabilized at 6.6 and wouldn't move is this because I didn't soak for 24 hours or is it defective ??

If they specifically state to soak for 24 hours i would think there is a reason.

So yes, leave it to soak for 24 hours and try again.
