I have several plants in 2 gallon pots in a 4 ft by 8 ft room... i have 28, 40 watt grow tubes on the walls and 1600 watts of metal halide over head..some plants are turning a yellowish green and they kinda smell funny...they are being grown in mircale grow soil.. its only a few of them, the rest look excellent... i think i may have over watered the ones in question but am not sure... the ph is around 8 in the ones in question...i have them growing 24 hours a day right now and they are growing at an astonishing rate... i have a squirrel cage motor in a custom made plenum that is drawing air out through a 12 inch duct line...with a 20 x 20 filter sucking in fresh, filtered air.. the temps are 68- 70... all the pots are sitting in a custom made sheet metal pan that is roughly 3 1/2 ft by 7 1/2 ft... so standing water i dont think is an issue... the water quality in my area is pretty darn good...before i made the custom pan they were sitting in individual pans to catch water.. the ones in question had standing water in the pans for a day or two but i emptied them as soon as i could... they smell kinda soured... I took them outside and flushed the plants in question before i set them into the custom pan... i will include some photos... thanks!!!

Hi Chan,

Let me start by saying WOW and congratulations! I thought I was reading the first part of your post wrong or it was a typo "...i have 28, 40 watt grow tubes on the walls and 1600 watts of metal halide over head". That's a lot of light. Congrats on a nice set up.

You mentioned growing in MG soil, and I'm curious if you are also giving any type of fertilization or nutrients. I realize Miracle Grow typically has slow release fertilizers in it, but are you supplementing? Also any chance you've recycled the soil the effected plants are growing in? This obviously isn't your first rodeo.

Sometimes the lights make colors look different but a couple of your girls look a little yellow and my immediate first thought was that they needed some nutrition.

they are almost a month old in the veg state.. the bag the soil came in said there was 3 months worth of nutrients in it... i havent been supplementing them but i thought once they dried out good i might add a little fertilizer to the water... i will be using the mitracle grow fertilizer..i plan on upping the overhead light to 1800 watts...like i said before, the ones that are yellow had water standing in them for a couple days and i think you all are right in that i overwatered those...ive sinced got rid of the individual pans... and yes this isnt my first rodeo... never had this problem before... this is actually my second rodeo.. lol musta gotten lucky the first time.. lol :thanks:
