Im doing my first grow and I and having problem with my water temp. it is currently around 76. It continually goes up if I don't do anything about it. Im using a DWC with a drip system. I put a shorter but wider reservoir underneath my grow reservoir and I have been putting ice in the outer reservoir to cool the water in the grow reservoir so it will go down with having to put the ice in the actual grow reservoir. i want to find a different way to cool the water so i don't have drastic water changes without having to spend big bucks on a water chiller.any ideas?

Usually water chillers are the best way to handle this. But you can also insulate the main reservoir, on all sides. This should help in keeping the temps down for a day or so. I've wrapped mine in foil bubble wrap to help. Did the sides and the top, left he bottom plain, but it sits on the basement floor. This helped somewhat.

I've also seen folks use ice chest for the reservoirs.

I made a chiller from a dorm fridge (one that has a compressor), some tubing, a wart chiller coil, and a water pump. For about $150 I can keep three 10 gallon tubes right at 68, with the air temp in the room around 80. I removed the insulation after this and it still keeps the correct temp.
