Hey I am pulling the trigger and getting the light for my first grow I have been looking forever, my options are limited to European Union. So I got a photo of the driver and light technical data of the one I am looking at. It is 256€ I really know very little, I am going to be running it in a 120x120. X150high tent.
Will this work for 2-3 plants?

It will work OK for about half your tent or for two plants. I have two similar 240w (480w total) LED panels for approximately the same size tent (slightly larger) and I'll admit I would like a little more wattage. You can easily grow 4 nice plants in your tent with two of your boards. What I do not like about my two 240w panels is how close the two LED boards are to one another on the heat sink vs how spread out some of the 480-500w advertised panels by HLG or Budget have the 4 boards more evenly space out to get a better coverage for our size tents. If my LED panels were a little more spaced out on their heat sink they would cover my tent better and I probably wouldn't be asking for more wattage.

Well, let's see, a 1.2 m2 space is a tick over 15 ft.2. At 250 watts, that give you 16.13 watts per square foot. Yes, it's efficient lighting, but "you're not going to fully illuminate an arena with a candle," as they say. Be more than enough for a 60cm x 60cm space, though - which means you could happily grow any strain in a space of that size, even an equatorial sativa (yum!). Or grow indicas and turn the power down slightly.

By the way, a company called Horticulture Lighting Group holds the patent on the "Quantum Board" thing. If HLG is the entity that is supplying that seller with that product, then ignore this paragraph. Otherwise... Statistically, it's really unlikely that someone's grow light will ever end up burning their house down - so I am not trying to panic you. However, if that device is a clone/counterfeit of a patented design, and IF it ever causes a fire... And your local fire inspector determines that to be what happened, and you put in a claim with your insurance, well... I suppose it depends on the insurer, and the availability of the evidence. But in my country, insurance companies make their money by not paying out claims, and something like this scenario would give them a reason to fight one. Again, highly unlikely (statistically speaking). What you'd call a "non-zero chance," though.

I think the whole grow room in the house, legal or not, would be an overwhelming reason for insurance to skip out on a reimbursement payment. Insurance, not even a necessary evil in my books.

Well, if the plants are legal in that location, and everything is up to code, they'd be on shaky ground trying to refuse a claim out of hand. If they find a valid way, though, that's a different thing.

With that and my previous comment having been typed... I was once treated pretty good by an insurer. Uninsured (and unlicensed, inexperienced, idiotic) driver drove into my car. I took a look at the damage, estimated what it'd cost to do the repair myself, and called to notify them about the "accident." I mentioned that I could self-repair for that amount of money, and they sent me a check (AFAIK, no one even ever came around to take a look at the damage). Which worked out great, because I knew the owner of a local junkyard slightly, asked him if he thought he might have the parts and, if so, what did he suppose they might end up costing me. "You betcha, and just tell the guy behind the counter that I said not to charge you for them," was his reply  .

But gifts like that are probably rare.

OP, buy a bigger / more powerful light, more lighting devices, or a smaller grow tent. IMHO. If you end up choosing to grow autoflowering strains, that will help, because you'll be running your lights 1.5x (or greater) more than the standard 12 hours per 24 during the flowering phase. But that only goes so far, and it would suck to limit yourself to those kinds of strains when there are a great many photoperiodic jewels out there.

Looking at the website, I can't discern the writing on the boards to know who made them
I am assuming they are legitimate as the site itself looks respectable. Who knows though....
What I can say is that I have two of the type fixtures by HLG that you are considering
This fixture lights 1 plant beautifully, but you could light 2
The legal limit where I am is 4 plants so I have 2 over 2 plants and a 320 over 2 plants

Please check Mars Hydro TS3000 LED, it can cover 4x4 tent well. We have warehouses in UK and Germany, can ship to any EU countries.

Thanks for the input it looks like HLG either sells to them or they are a scam. So I contacted HLG with the same info and a link to the shop. If it is real and looks like it is good to start (I can get another next year). It this will get me up and running for not too much over my budget. I will get another either another one like that or a bigger one and make this my veg light. Oh and as for fire I don’t care if the insurance adjuster would pay or not better is to plan for NO FIRE. I’m getting a fire ball one of those balls that automatically put a fire out. (Growing is a little naughty here) but fire is not an option.

Hey thanks Sara, I was really looking at the tws2000 that is in my price range at least until I get a grow under my belt. I was about to buy it from amazon but it was sold out , thanks I will look into mars hydro again.

Not much to add to this as it looks like everything has been covered. HLG makes very nice lights, as well as BudgetLED. I own fixtures from both companies and their top notch, but I prefer the HLG lights. I hear Mars rocks too, but I don’t have any experience with them so I can’t comment on them. But there’s plenty of journals with people using Mars, might be worth checking out. Just wanted to throw my input in there.

I also like that TS, pointed this out. Fun fact. It doesn’t seem like many people are privy to the fact that HLG has a patent on the term “quantum board” .. “Quantum Board” is HLG’s way of saying SMD (surface mounted diode) all other light companies that say their lights are “Quantum boards” are just using that term because HLG made the term synonymous with “amazing light” because of how well they grow plants.. They are all SMD style lighting fixtures though, I’m not sure if HLG’s patent makes it so other companies cannot use the term or not but I respect companies that don’t try to ride the hype train that was created by another company to help their profits. Just call them what they are, SMD Lights.
