Need Help About An Aquarium Light

Hello, I have a Kessil LED Lights and it's the ocean blue one. It is 15000K. Can I use this light to grow? I know its for reef tanks, but I am not using it at this time. A guy at the Hydro store told me it would be great but he thinks the 15000K is to high for Veg plants. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

It will work to a degree but at some point your plants is going to need some other spectrum’s to grow and mature.

The 15000K bulb is too blue in my opinion. Great for Hard corals but not that good for plants especially in flower stage. HPS lights, used for grow lights are in the red-yellow spectrum, rated at 1800-3000Kelvin range. If you are going to use an aquarium bulb I would use one in the 6500-6700 Kelvin range, white spectrum simulating sunlight, great for growing algae/plants in an aquarium as well as MJ. With that said I make my reef lighting do double duty. I use a Mars Aqua 165X3 watt LED set up as well as a 400W 6700K MH lamp for veg. During flower my Mars Aqua has dual dimmers that I can turn off my blue LED's, and I switch my MH bulbs with HPS bulbs.

There is a little Yellow light on it from the 400W lamp above the Strawberry Cough next to it. but the Cotton Candy is not leaning towards it but straight up to the Mars Aqua. (little damage on the S.C. from the 400W lamp falling on it)

So what Zero244 said, yes it can be done with aquarium lights just with the right spectrum. that last post was my 2nd grow. Here are pictures of my 1st grow also using aquarium lights. 4-T5 65W 6500Kelvin bulbs for veg and added 2-250W 6700Kelvin MH bulbs for flower. Tried 20000K Radium MH 250W but did not grow so well.
