High Brix Update - Adding to the family

Maui is here! - HB Day 40

So, I added two Maui (not "Maui Waui") clones to my family of High Brix babies. Got them from a long-time grower who planned to retire the strain because he has too many (all of which are killer), so I took a couple clones in 4-in rockwool cubes with the intention of keeping one in my arsenal and giving the other to a friend starting a 600-watt HPS grow.

Anyway, as soon as I got the clones home they were transplanted into gallon pots of waiting high brix soil. First, of course, I dusted the rockwool cube and the soil with Roots. After the rockwool cubes were covered with about 1-in of soil, I slowly watered the pots until saturated with a tiny splash of transplant thrown in for good measure. Now, we watch the HB soil do it's thing to perk those Maui's back up.

To note, I raised the LED up to 17" above the canopy to give a wider footprint to support the extra cellulose bodies (aka "plants").

Veg Vitals
Temp: 62-75'F
RH: 52-76%
Light Height: 17-20"
Light Schedule: 18/6

The proof:

{Day 40} Group shot. The Maui's in front, middle-left is Mystery Seed #3, and the rest are either Papaya #1 or #2. The plant in the middle is a Mammoth Sunflower that I plan to put outside in the next couple of days.

I should be acquiring another strain or two in the next week, so my final decision on what to flower next has yet to be made.

The candidates thus far:

-Papaya #1
-Papaya #2
-Mystery Seed #3
-Maui

Undeclared candidates:

-Blue Dream
-Durban Poison
-Super Lemon Haze
-Jet Fuel
-White Diesel
-Animal Cookies
-Purple Bio Diesel
-Chem D

I also acquired a few Grape Ape seeds crossed with a hermied Super Lemon Haze or Caramel that I'm interested to pop, but space won't allow this round... especially when I have so many great clones to choose from.

Enough ranting for the night. Sleep well my friends. :Namaste:

Looking amazing man!! :thumb: im loving the Oskar Blues stickers on the pots also haha i love colorado herb and brews :circle-of-love:

Guess: i would say based off how they look i think you get 1 1/2 OZ

Bubblelicious Harvest Update!

Harvest Update - Flower Day 42

After a week of drying and curing, the results are in!

Bubblelicious #1 = 24g
Bubblelicious #3 = 18g
Total = 42g or about 1.5oz

Not too bad for a couple of autos in 3 gallons of soil.

The buds have a little moisture left in them, so I'm burping the jars for a few extra hours each day. Buds from both plants hit smooth and taste fresh, which is my preference over dry buds that hit harsh. Bubblelicious #1 proves a tiny bit stronger than #3, but both provide a relaxing Indica body high accompanied by bouts of amnesia. I almost forget my limbs are attached. A nice evening smoke.

Bubblelicious #3 produced about 20 seeds and Bubblelicious #1 has produced 2 seeds thus far, all of which I've kept for the seasonal seed dispersal next spring. Since they're indica-dominant autos, they may be the best option for altitudes above 8,000ft were they're likely to get planted. A few seeds went to a co-worker, who lives closer to about 10,000ft and plans to put them in a hoop house when it gets warm enough next spring. Kinda makes me feel like Johnny Reeferseed. Anyway, I'm not 100% sure how I got seeds, though it may stem back to the couple of nanners I found on Bubblelicious #2 that I gave away to some friends to grow separately in a green house... or possibly one of the two male mystery seeds pollinated it... or it hermied. At this point, I can't really be sure. Though I'm knocking on wood that my Papayas weren't pollinated in the process. They were still in veg at the time, so I not too worried. Heck, any seeds from the Papayas can also make the seasonal seed dispersal.

As for the Papayas, they are still chugging along. They are entering week 7 of flower and I plan to start flushing on July 17th right before I leave for a 10-day vacation. The timing is perfect because my roommate won't have to fool with mixing nutrients, he just has to refill the SWICK once or twice. Damn I love the SWICK! It has made growing bud an extremely flexible process. If I leave for a few days, I don't even have to bother my roommates to check the tent - it's on autopilot.

Anyway, I'm planning to start a new journal soon for my High Brix babies, so stay tuned.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll probably update a couple more times in this journal until harvest, then I'll be switching over completely to my yet-to-be-started High Brix journal with my yet-to-be-decided strains.

Goodnight and good luck!

Looks like you were almost dead on. Great job! :thumb:

I had a bunch of stickers from an event Oscar Blues sponsored in town, and I thought they might help me more easily identify my plants as I move them around. Plus, I'm a fan of OB beer, so it only makes sense that I'd inadvertently advertise them here.

Cheers! :passitleft:

Well done. Well done indeed. You had me screaming with laughter a couple times. Thank goodness it's my brother-in-law who lives downstairs and he's a sound sleeper.

I prefer my buds fresh as well. I suspect that's a result of growing such incredible weed. It just tastes sooo good and hits hard from the get-go. I prefer to eat mine after baking, actually, and they taste better fresh.

Please send me an invite to your new journal. By then I'll be rolling along on my next cycle, where I hope to show what the Kit can do beyond saving you from losing it all in a crisis.

Come to think of it, that wasn't a bad thing to demonstrate, was it? I had the worst thing possible thing happen - a whole string of worst things - and they still continued to grow, and they will reward me greatly come harvest. Yield will be reduced, certainly, but thanks to the Kit and my mature LOS, I'm going to get potent. That makes up for smaller yield. Ok then, I feel pretty good about it now. Thanks for prompting that introspection.

You sure do bring out the best in me. :battingeyelashes:

haha lucky guess man, and i love OB as well if you ever make it to longmont to there brew pub they make the best chicken fried steak on sundays lol.

and those buds look super frosty man, i alsays thought auto's were suppost to be a little less potent because of the hemp cross but that def looks worth growing. and its awesome you give out your seeds man gotta share the love!!

love the journal and smoke report, always good to see whats going on with other ppl's grow ill be seeing you in your new thread :Namaste:

Those nugs look amazing! Had my mouth watering just looking at them! Hahaha 1.5oz is pretty good! I'm hoping for around there with the Blue Widow.

And to think that 1.5oz came from just the runt Autos with my much larger Papayas still to finish. My goal is to hit .5 grams/watt which would be about 8oz total. If the Papayas plump up at all while I'm gone, reaching that weight shouldn't be too hard.

Was talking with a rep for Heliospectra LEDs, and he was saying that in their tests LEDs usually produce smaller plants than HIDs but nutrient density (aka "brix") is higher which results in dry weights being very comparable. That's good to know.

Damn! I just looked them up. That LX60 sounds utterly amazing for growing. Leave it to the Swedes to build something so efficient!!
I'll be hoping for the plants to bulk up and get you the weight you're looking for.
