Mystery Clones in Coco 400 Watt MH/HPS, 80cm x 80cm x 160cm

Hey guys,

I decided to start this journal even though I am half way through the grow already because I would like to receive input from those experienced growers, and I know that this is the correct way of doing things.

Let me first say that my first attempt at doing hydro (DWC system) was a failure from the beginning, so I abandoned that journal, and have started a new grow from some clones given to me from unknown mother(s). The condition of the mother(s) were not that good to begin with, so I am not certain how this will end up. I don't have much information about the plants. From the looks of the leafs, they appear to be a hybrid with Sativa being the dominant strain. For my next grow I will take my own cuttings from my own mother I will have grown myself.

Tomorrow morning I will cut off the lights, and initiate flowering. The HID bulb will be switched to a HPS 400 watt. I have done my final trimming of lower branches, and now it's wait and see how everything turns out. The EC is currently at 1.5 (750 ppm) and the plants are taking every bit of it, with no tip burn. I have been increasing the EC 0.1 every day for the last week in anticipation of flowering. The PH is currently at 5.7. I have been bringing it down from a high of 6.1 because some issues I spotted, that I believe now have been mostly corrected.

The medium is just plain coco with nothing added or done to it prior to planting. I have been hand watering each plant thoroughly and I have been preventing the waste water from getting sucked back into the pots. This is something I am going to change in my next grow, as I want to separate the pots from the waste water.

The feed I have been using is called Powdered Feeding by Green House, a company from The Netherlands. I started out with the 'Grow' version with a formula of 24-6-12. Tomorrow (for flowering) I am switching to a 'Hybrid' Formula 15-7-22. I plan on supplementing with Grotek Super Bloom 0-50-30 during the 4th, 5th, 6th week of flowering.

Lighting has been kept about 24 inches from the plant, however, I am going to try to see if I can get the HPS bulb slightly closer when I initiate flowering tomorrow. This is where the grow stands right now, and yes, I know it has been sloppy and there are many things to fix and much more to learn, but hang with me, I am going to try to finish this through.

Lanky girls, they look healthy

How high are lights?

Are u watering daily with nutes?

They suffered through early life. They were under fed, with EC very low for a good part of their life. I am currently watering every 12 hours with nutes, EC 1.5 (750 ppm) PH 5,7, and increased to 1 ml of chelated calcium to each liter of water, which solved another problem. I was given them too little calcium I believe. Magnesium is already in the feed. By the way I am using filtered water from an installed filter (NOT R.O). Lights are about 24 inches above.

Tomorrow starts flowering. Bulb has been switched to 400 watt hps. I’ll go with 12 on 12 off.

According to my calculations light per square foot = 80cm x 80cm = 6400cm = 6.89sf. 400 / 6.89 = 58 watts per square foot not including the loss at the bulb of course.

Will they continue growing taller for another 2 weeks into flowering?
yes, sometimes it takes a week or so after the switch for the to start stretching but they will take off. Depending on the strain they could stretch 3 times the size they are now,a lot of sativas have a big stretch while most Indicas tend to stay shorter and bushier. It could get pretty tight in there but that’s a good thing if you ask me lol, I love watching them stretch.✌️

They keep getting taller by the day. Will see where they go.

I have a feeling that I am going to have to be tying down some of the budding branches, and maybe even the main stems themselves. Can I drive stakes parallel with the trunks without hurting the roots?

White hairs spotted guys on a lot of the plants, and they are probably in all of them, and only the fourth day of flowering is completed. I'll see if I can get some pics up of that in the next day or two.
