Re: My first grow journal: MagnumPlatinumHaze, ColombianGold, NorthernLights& GrüneHe

Now i had a bunch of porbs with the ladies as the Colombian Gold were growing uncontrolably. If i would have let them grow as they wanted theyd prolly be taller than me. Funny enough the Magnum Platinum Hazes and Northern Lights are barely half the size of the CGs....

Anyway, so i started bending hem down and built some sort of stage for the smaller girls so that theyd be more or less one hight. :P

Anyway, the flowers are growing to big fat fluffy white hairy balls of god.
Some more pics will follow, as pics say more than a thousand words. :p

Re: My first grow journal: MagnumPlatinumHaze, ColombianGold, NorthernLights& GrüneHe

Ok, now the last post and we are up-to date:

2 days ago i decided to defoliate 2 of my magnum platinum hazes, as i stumbled across this awesome article on the forum and decided to dare it on the two plants, that seemed to have the "smallest" bud growth... As im kinda newbie at this, im happy for any input you guys could give me.... I was kinda afraid to take t oo many leafs....

They look great!! I am honestly surprised that you were able to successfully grow 17 plants in that tiny space with only one 600W HPS light. The buds might not get real dense, but it still looks like you will have a good yield. Generally you want 100-150W per plant, but you may have disproved that theory. lol.

Great work +reps

AAAAwwwww Thanks :D

Well i would have actually gone for 9 plants, however i thought id experiment with 16, and my local shop gave me one as a present, so that id shut up :D haha

Dont forget, i switched the light cycle when they were 25cm tall, if it wasnt for the Columian Golds, that take a lot of space and seem to grow to monsters, id say 16 fit in well enough with the right amout of trimming.

Also, the one NL is just super tiny. it barely measures 40cm, and i just couldnt through it out. Just because one of your babies is slightly handicapped, you cant just let it die.. :)

I think i was a bit to gentle with the defoliation, i could have ripped out more, dont you thing?

My next grow will be Raspberry cough and blackberry, grown from seeds, thinking of 5 plants or something, maximum 9 :)

5 plants would be great in your space. And you could upgrade the pot size as well!

All of your ladies look awesome, and I must agree with Dan, they are starting to bud up nice for how many plants you have!! Great strain selection as well :cheesygrinsmiley:

Can't wait to see what they produce for you my friend! Subbed! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Yes, you could defol more to get the light down to the lower budsites. Those will probably be little popcorn buds for the most part, but still will be viable.

You can yield a lot with a low number of plants. It all depends on how much time you want to spend with your girls. It takes a lot more TLC to yield a lot with just a few plants. On the other hand, you can pack a lot of plants into a single grow and get a great yiels without having to do a lot of LST or defol. Check out my journal, that is one plant fluxed to have 22 main colas when we switch to flower.

Re: 1st Grow Journal - MagnumPlatinumHaze - ColombianGold - NorthernLights - GrüneHes

Defoilation for greater yields you may want to look up. I do zero training besides topping and defoilation and my plants get between 8-24oz per plant my average being 10-14 oz per plant.
Check out my journals I have like 4 it will give you one of many ideas out there.

If you can only do a couple plants I'd recommend the flux dan is doing. Light addict has a very good thread on the subject.

On the before after pics i realized you barely see anything happening, maybe todays pics turned out better, as a i had slightly more time and moved them to a white bg :)

I actually used this post as reference for my shy defoliation.. :p

I really thnk iits funny how controversial all those opinions are, regarding defoliation, quantity of plants etc. You can see a clear pattern as generally speaking those opinions differ from country to country.

In europe i would say, it is fairly common to keep a larger amount of plants on a ccertain space, and most people would recommend around 9 plants for a sq m. In the states it usually seems to be less
Same with defoliation. Most european growers go fucking crazy if you start the defoliation topic.
"If there would be a point, dutch growers would do that all the time." seems like thats their only point of reference...
Same goes for LED growing.
Maybe its just me, but i have the feeling as if in the US, people seem to be more open to new tricks and techniques in how to treat and get the most out of your lady and not that hung up with the idea of the "classic" way to do it.

maybe im just sterotyping here, but what the heck. ;)

Re: 1st Grow Journal - MagnumPlatinumHaze - ColombianGold - NorthernLights - GrüneHes

Anyway, i have to admit, im pretty fond of my ladies.s.. for standing all teh way in the back, they show some pretty sweet flowers already, hopefully those will develop in some sweet ass buds :D

Just the smell right now make me wanna sit right in the center of the tent, covered in a blanket of plants.

Anyway, here the tops of ma defoliated ladies

Goodness man, all of those ladies are beautiful... Awesome pistils, very pretty structure.

I think it might just be the 420magazine community that is so open to new techniques and ideas.. We are all doing one thing or another to our plants and we are constantly documenting and sharing that info. The wealth of knowledge on this forum is astounding.

Keep up the good work pal.. and keep the photo's coming! LOVE the bud porn ! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: 1st Grow Journal - MagnumPlatinumHaze - ColombianGold - NorthernLights - GrüneHes

Just came back from snowboarding after leaving the ladies alone for 5 days.
Oh god they look even more beautiful than i could have imagined.

The white hairs are developping into really delicious buds which i cant wait to show you...!!
i kinda drifted away staring at the girls and forgot to take pictures... it prolly would have ruined the reuinion moment.

Any suggestions on what i could do to improve anything im doing are obiously always welcome :)
hehe..

Anyway, ill show the girls off tomorrow. :)
have a great evening everyone!

Re: 1st Grow Journal - MagnumPlatinumHaze - ColombianGold - NorthernLights - GrüneHes

Here the pics as promised.... with an added macro shot :)

Also, today i noticed some discoloration on 2 of the Gruene Hessins Leaves... Any ideas what it could be? Or should i just ignore it as the new fan leaves look nice and green? Also, one of the Magnum Platinum Hazes leafs is turning massively yellow, i would guess its a nitrogen deficiency? ill be uploading a pic of her later on as i just ran out of battery!

Anyway, here you go guys, click to enlarge!
