My Big Bud Hermied

Welp, she's almost at week 4 of flower. About 3.5 weeks and I pulled about 4 nanners two days ago and pulled about 4 sacs that opened up, all tucked and hidden under some of the lower popcorn buds. Hoping that since they were all on the lowest part of the plant that it hadn't spread around. I am fairly confident that it's not genetic but rather I stressed her by defoliating too much about a week ago. I wanted to get more light penetration and just went overboard. I now know to clean up leaves while in veg.. anyhow. Here is a picture of her. Topped her at about 2 weeks from sprout. Going to let her run and see what happens.
It's personal use so if I find a seed here and there I won't be too upset.

Re: My Big Bud Hermied :(

Just stay with it and you should be fine. As long as the only male flowers are on lower branches and not in the buds themselves it should be ok and controllable. Lots of strains will do this. A full on hermie will have male flowers coming out of the buds themselves and are to numerous to trim off. Also if you are right and it was stress related any seeds should be female.

I am hoping that if I do get seeds that it's just a few randoms here and there. This plant has potential to bring me an insane yield.

I have had lots of pods show up though out the years. None produce seeds. You should be fine. There might be some seeds there but I wouldn't worry about there being to many from just a couple male pods.

Re: My Big Bud Hermied :(

Your time line is close. How long the strain takes to flower will dictate what can happen. Leaving for 5 days can give a lot of pods a chance to form and open. If it was only a stress problem and no more pods have form you will be all right. If it is a really early strain you will be all right. The thing is. Pollen does not matter if there is no time to form a seed. So a little pollen with only a couple weeks left shouldn't be a problem.
While a nice brown seed or 2 is cool. A bunch of immature seeds can ruin your buds. They won't grow and they don't smoke. Better to finish the seeds in this situation. What I am saying is. If pods are still forming and you have over 4 weeks flower time left. Leaving for 5 days could be a problem. Lots of pods and pollen can come in that amount of time.

Re: My Big Bud Hermied :(

Have you found any more ladyk3?

No sacs but a possible a very very immature nanner in today's inspection.
I am hoping that if I don't stress her out and just let her ride she won't keep producing male parts. If anything I hope not all buds are affected and I can get decent smokable buds and some seeds here and there. I didn't intend to stress her in the first place. I learn more and more with each grow.

All I can do is just hope for the best while I am gone. I have noticed a stall in bud fattening so I am concerned it's shifted to full on seed production... time will tell.
