Pascagoula - Sherry Cowart McDonald, the wife of the Escatawpa man arrested last week for allegedly cultivating marijuana in a Wildwood Road house, was arrested Monday.

According to documents at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, McDonald was arrested by agents of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics on Monday. She has been charged with cultivating marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. After her arrest, she was released on a $150,000 bond.

McDonald's husband, Jerry McDonald was arrested last week at the couple's home at 9031 Graham St., Moss Point. He was charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. He is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.

The MBN is working the case along with the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County. The investigation began weeks ago. Last week, agents, armed with a search warrant, went into a house at 9308 Wildwood Road to find each room, the kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms, outfitted with irrigation tables, timed lighting and regulated heating used for the high-tech scientific growth of marijuana. Authorities said this was possibly the largest indoor marijuana cultivation they have seen. An alleged 849 healthy marijuana plants were seized as evidence. Authorities estimate the McDonalds were making about $1 million a year on the plants.
