A lot going on since the last update actually. I have gotten a lot of flak for how I update my pics on here. I do everything by iPhone and my app ForumRunner only allows me to upload pics onto this forum as links to a photobucket account. People keep reporting me for it and I've received a few friendly reminders of the photo update policy. I've responded each time explaining my predicament and have never received a response back so if any mods are reading this please look into this as it's greatly affecting my ability to continue this journal and enjoy this forum.
Anyways to give you a little update on what I have done MINUS PICS for now lol
I recently received my 420 scope and earth juice ph up crystals. The 420 scope actually works amazingly well for only $14. I do have to cut a sugar leaf off and put it on a table to be able to really focus but still a lot more accurate for harvesting vs pistils. After looking at my recent blue OG and Ultrasour buds I noticed mostly clear trichs which is expected seems how I had to harvest them earlier than planned but it does confirm my suspicion that my pistils are not accurate for harvesting because these buds have almost all red pistils.
I haven't had a chance to use the ph up crystals. As you saw on my post on your thread a few of my late girls are giving me a bit of trouble. Just like you I can't determine whether it's ph lockout or nute def. This is why I now support Ph'ng at least until your soil/feed is really dialed in which I think takes several harvests of the same strain. I think it's best to ph our feed even in soil as a precautionary measure. This makes it a lot easier to diagnose problems because it's one less thing you have to worry about. I do have to admit my other plants all seem to really be thriving so I'm still considering the possibility of nute def vs ph lockout. The only 2 plants experiencing the problems are on very late flower. The yields seem very small and the buds are near full maturity. This makes me think I did underfeed them. Unfortunately I may never know with these two plants but at least going forward I'll know for sure ph lockout isn't the issue.
I did end up rearranging things around a bit more and had made a few changes to my plans again go figure
As you know I was going to try and shop for supplies to either go coco or organic soil. I was lucky enough to find a bale of ProMix potting soil for $13! Of course this is the perfect base for an organic mix but I cannot find any organic supplies in my area. Not even manure or worm castings or bone meal. Just Xmas decorations everywhere lol. So I decided to go ProMix only because I think it's almost identical to coco but with better water retention. It's a completely soiless mix of peatmoss, perlite, and ph buffers. Previously I mixed this 50/50 with my organic miracle grow. Now I'm using 100% ProMix which is waaaay better. I noticed with the old mix the top soil would crust over and harden easily. Not sure if this is due to running it 3 times now or just the overall quality of the soil. Needless to say I'm done with this soil but now I have to figure out how to get rid of it. I've got a couple feet of snow in my yard so it's gotta stay inside til spring. It's about 30gallons worth. Should make some good garden soil this summer.
I looked at ordering amendments online. There's so many to choose from and confusing. Plus shipping and prices are pretty high. That's why I still want to get docs kit. At $80 for a complete amendment kit that can be used 2-3 times with 60 gal of soil seems totally worth the money. Unfortunately money I don't have now as a 2nd light is still a bigger priority so looks like it'll still be the FF trio for a few more runs yet. Hopefully the 100% ProMix will offer some improvement.
I read a really simple tea recipe made with only wormcastings and molasses but my grow big and tiger bloom would kill the beneficial organisms. (I've wondered how the beneficial organisms survive in big bloom when it's used in conjunction with the other non organic ff products.) I may slowly start to buy amendments online and slowly incorporate them into my soil mix but not sure if I should bother while I keep feeding them the grow big and tiger bloom.
Flower Tent
My flower tent is coming along nicely. My 5 gal wild Thai and agent O are massive LST bushes now. Guessing 4+ oz each but not sure about the WT as it's 100% sativa.
The agent O single cola clone is just starting the flush. Should be ready in a few weeks. Hoping for a half oz maybe even a little more. Ironically no issues on this girl even tho she's been on the same schedule as the blue Thai and Dinachem.
Next up will be the blue Thai and Dinachem. These are the two that have been giving me hell. I'm not positive how far along they are. All the pistils are turning red but the buds are very small and I think they're only at about 6 weeks. Praying for a turn around. Going to try and push them as long as I can to get them to fatten up. Again I really think I underfed these but I'm not sure seems how I fed them without Ph'ng for several weeks.
After that will be my lemon Thai Kush, 2 autoflowers (blue cheese & Berry Ryder), and 3gal WT.
Tbh I really dropped the ball the last few months. I really slacked on tracking my plants. I think this is the most important step for new growers. Make sure you keep observing your plants everyday and make sure you document everything accurately. This will save you so many headaches down the road lol.
I'm now back on track in my notebook. I had to really organize my sh*t to track all these plants. I have a lot when you add up clones, veg, and flower. It can get really confusing and difficult to remember without recording things in detail. Unfortunately I'm only able to track new plants so my next few plants I harvest will still really be a guessing game. I've def learned my lesson
Veg Tent
I rearranged my veg tent again. I ended up putting the shelf back in but not the cloner or humidifier. I can now run 2 trays with 18 Dixie cups each on the shelves, 20 1 gal on the floor, and 2 5 gal also on the floor. For now I'm only able to pick my biggest for 5 gal and the remaining ones will be transplanted to 3 gal when I move them to flower.
After Xmas, I'm expecting some power tools
. I'm going to finally build my table to separate the veg tent into 2 separate chambers. The bottom chamber will hold 8 5 gal and the top chamber will hold 30 1 gal. With this method I can stagger the plants in multiple ways and be able to grow 9 5gal per 4x4 square. We'll see now it works out though. I'm sure it'll change again but that's the general direction I'm heading. I'm sick of tiny plants lol. I really like the grow rate in these 5gal buckets. I can't wait til I can afford smart pots and tomato cages.
That's about it for now. Next update will have pics hopefully.
