I did build a ghetto bubbler cloner before that didn't work. I know I could build a fairly cheap aero cloner but so much of my operation depends my cloning abilities that I feel like $80 for a king cloner isn't bad.

Thinking I'll be doing a 24 plant 3 gal SOG harvesting a 12 plant 4x4 section at a time. Hoping for a 1lb per month perpetual. Kinda lofty goals but gotta aim high right?

Here a few pics of my flower and veg tent. My biggest is a bagseed. Not quite sure how many weeks she's into flower. Probably about 4 weeks in with at least 4 weeks left. I also recently put a Blue OG and Ultrasour into my flower tent. They haven't preflowered yet. They are feminized seeds though.

Got my cloner filled with 21 clones so far. Still have to wait a few weeks to clone the lemon Thai and wild Thai. I did attempt cloning my blue og and Ultrasour but both of these are about a week into flower. I think the Ultrasour will be ok but I've heard blue og can be tough to clone.

Also, the instructions that came with my king cloner specifically said not to sit the stems on the bottom. Hopefully just cutting it at a 45 degree angle, scraping the sides of it, and dipping it in cloning powder will work.

Here's a few pics of my cloner/veg tent and flower tent. This bagseed plant is really starting to fatten up. It kinda smells like an orange diesel? Lol

Was asking about the elc stuff just for my own calculating.. Im really trying to do some more indoor here soon but money is definitely an issue. Im thinking about doing a CFL set up if it will be a little lower in cash in the end.. my hps and mh bills were a total buzz kill lol, but then again the AC was on a lot. I like your plan mrbub, sounds like it's well thought through. That meter looks nice as well, I tried doing the damn pool strips and that was waaaayy crappy haha, I feel pH is a need to know for us starting out, I still use it every time, most of my problems in the beginning were definitely from lock out, picked up a little hanna ppm meter as well for my coco needs. Sounds like your grow is going to get a little bulkier ay? Can't wait to see the tent set up, guarantee those girls are going to be loving their new living arrangement some reps for ya mrbub, stay well!

I did recently calculate my energy usage. My hps, t12's and inline fan are using 885 watts. Add a few misc watts for my humidifier, 4in duct fan, and 4in clip fan. To make things easy I just round up to 1000 watts or 1kw. My energy cost is approximately .0861 per kWh. I only run my 600 watt 12/12 and everything else is 24/7. I'd say my electric usage is about $40 per month and that's rounding up quite a bit. Really not bad for a 2x4 veg space and 4x4 flower space.

I think my main problem before was the hot exhaust air was shooting into the house and overworking the central AC. Now it's hard to say though because we are running heat lol.

Bad news today. I slacked off this morning and decided not to check on the clones in the veg tent before the flower tent light turned off (one of the disadvantages of having a veg tent inside a flower tent. I had to wait until tonight and check. I made a jackass mistake. Me and the wife were in a hurry to get done last night. Turns out I forgot to plug in the cloner. Pretty sure all my clones are done. I'm going to give them 24hrs to see if they recover. Really bummed cuz I'll have to wait a few weeks to get clones again. Looks like I might be ordering some more seeds. Ugh live and you learn.

Great news this morning! I checked the clones and it looks like almost all of them have recovered. This plant never ceases to amaze me on what it can persevere through. Good life lesson Ill post a pic tonight so you guys can see the difference.

Thanks! I was amazed at the difference. They looked done like cooked spinach lmao. Then this morning almost all of them were bright green and perky. Afraid I did still lose a few but didn't lose any strains thank god.

I was pretty amazed by the bagseed plant too. Not sure if you remember but waaaay back when I started I got 4 seeds from a friend in Colorado's stash. Just some seeds he found in a few bags. I gave one to a friend, two to my brother in law, and kept this one for myself. My friends died but my brother in law kept his under t12's all the way through flower. Ended up getting about an eighth between the two plants. Very airy scraggly looking buds. At first I wasn't even going to trim it. Turned out to be straight fire! Like waaaay better than any of my European strains I ordered online.

I was blown away. How could this scraggly looking thing be better than the fat dense nugs on my autos? Pretty sure it's a lemon diesel something lmao.

Needless to say I'm REALLY looking forward to this bagseed plant. Smells amazing and 10x stronger than any plant I've grown before. I'm also excited because I just put a clone of it into flower and have a mother clone of it in my veg tent.

I think I remember reading something along thoes lines awhile ago. I am glad you got a clone of that plant to keep it going. Wish I would have taken a cutting of that pineapple strain I grew.

I took some clones from my GSC plant, but damn that strain veg's sooooo slow! I ordered some seeds online and germed them in rockwool a couple days ago. 3 sensi super skunks and 3 barney's critical kush. they have pretty much all sprouted so far and going strong. I also picked up some Barneys LSD for another grow aswell as a ton of free seeds. I wanted to stick with cloning, but I couldent find any reliable good looking strains in my area over the past couple of weeks.

I actually have a problem with cloning. I can never let a strain go lmao. I have to clone everything just in case it's a really good strain. That's why I planted so many different strains at once. It's PITA trying to take care of several strains at once but it speeds up the process of finding the ones I like best.

Really surprised your having trouble finding clones out there. I though WA was full of dispensaries already. Nothing beats watching them grow from seed to harvest tho

Not sure what your using for a cloner but I have to say the king cloner is pretty sweet. I can tell the success rate will be exceptional just because of how well these recent ones recovered from my f*ck up.

Heard lots of good stuff about Barney's farm. Can't wait to see how these ones turn out for ya.

Update:

My clones have recovered miraculously. I did end up probably losing 3 of 21. I took a few more last night to compensate. They are doing amazing in the king cloner. I do spray them a few times a day for good measure and I also have a humidifier running right next to them. I also added another shop light so I'm running a total of 6 t12's for a total of 240watts. In the future I'm going to upgrade to t8's because my ballast will work for both. I also have another shop light I can put in if I need to. So far the veg tent seems to be working perfectly with humidity at 50% and temp consistent at 77.

My flower tent is running much better than when it was my smaller tent. I have consistent temps of 77 night and 82 day. My humidity is a little low at 38%. I'm still running 1 600watt hps finally at 100% lol. I'm hoping to get a second 600watt around Xmas so I'll have the full 4x8 space for flowering and then move my veg tent. Baby steps

My bagseed plant is really filling out nicely and still smelling like an orange skunk. Hoping to cut her by 11/15. Unfortunately my meds are running low already from the last harvest so I need her as soon as I can. I hate being in this position again because it prevents me from giving the plant adequate dry/flush/cure time. Basically getting a final product that's not nearly as good as it could be. That's the whole reason I decided to expand to such a large tent and cloner. I saw this coming and I don't want it to happen again. My next few harvests will only be a plant or two at a time meaning ill still be struggling to provide us enough. I'm hoping my quality will be better to help conserve more. So far my bagseed seems like she's going to be killer. She is a lot more frosty and stinky than any of my girls before. Not sure if that's the strain or my growing abilities.

Once all my clones are ready I'm hoping to grow 12-18 at a time. I will stagger them out by a week and also different sizes. I want to experiment and see what works best for me. I'm aiming for medium plants in 3 gal containers. I want to get as much direct light as I can but I don't want a shitload of plants to take care of either.

I'll be experimenting with topping, fimming, LST, and mainly au naturale I want to get to know each of my strains really well and I want to gain as much experience as fast as I can. I think the best way to do that is to let them grow normally without interference and to practice as many techniques as I can handle at once. I'll be using the other growing techniques as a comparison too.

Ill also eventually be doing a DWC bucket vs soil comparison. Ideally I'd do everything organic soil but it's really a PITA doing that indoors. Hauling soil, vacuuming, disposing of old soil, bugs, and mainly ingredient availability. My area doesn't have any hydro shops or even a decent greenhouse so that means ordering everything online which is pretty expensive with shipping. I feel like I could limit my exposure a lot more by doing hydro. Plus I've ran hydro before and the growth rates are phenomenal. I don't necessarily think that hydro is better. I still prefer good ol' soil though. Hopefully once I move to legal state I'll run soil outdoors/greenhouse and hydro indoors.

Ideally I'd like 2 4x4 flood tables and 2 res each under a 600 watt using rock wool or square pots with hydroton or river rock. This would work great for a perpetual for me. Unfortunately plastic res and flood tables are super expensive for some reason. I've built an ebb an flow before. I've seen tons of easy DIY hydro systems but I still prefer a more professional cleaner setup. So in the meantime ill still be mainly doing soil but with a little hydro on the side

That's pretty much sums up where I'm at and where I'm hoping to go.

One thing I have been looking at closer is purple leaf stems with a tiny bit of purple striping on the main stalk. All my plants seem to have them but they seem super healthy. I've found a lot of conflicting information online whether this is a mag def or just the strain. I have learned that I'm giving plenty of nutes. At this point I think not providing enough nutes is one of the least likely reasons for someone to have a problem especially a cal/mag def when using tap water. Usually it's much more likely to be nute burn or ph lockout at least for me.

I have noticed spotting and curling in a few spots on my bagseed plant. Nothing serious she's still doing really well but it still has me stumped. My main problem is my water ph is 8 out of the tap. When I bubble it and let it sit 24/7 it doesn't drop much at all which is weird it used to drop to 7. Winter weather affecting ph? (Yes I know I need an RO system it's already on the shopping list lol.) Now my tiger bloom drops my ph to like 4 so I have to add TONS of ph up to get it to 6.8. (Yes I know I need ph stable nutes lo)

My meter seems to be working great. Everytime I use it I put it in 7.0 calibration solution to make sure it's reading correctly and then adjust it to 7.0 if necessary. I tested this with my drops and it seems consistent. So if my meter is accurate, my ph is 6.8 going in I'm thinking that I either used too many nutes or too much ph up is causing problems. My guess it too many nutes but I have been following the FF schedule conservatively mainly 2tsp grow big, 2tsp tiger bloom, 1 tblspn big bloom. I water aprox every 3 days 1gal at a time alternating between straight ph'd tap water and feed. So needless to say im a little stumped on this. I'm sure the plant is fine and there isn't much leaf damage but I hate not know what's going in. Another reason I'm leaning hydro lmao


Anyways looks like I've made another gigantic post. Works been slow lol. Here's the pics. They are a few days old so the clones especially look much better than the pics but at least it gives you an idea of where they were before and after my f*ck up. Hey guys,

Still not much going on. Just a waiting game at this point. Trying to do a lot of planning so forgive me if it sounds like I'm shooting ideas to myself. I have a lot I need to figure out in order to make sure I have a perpetual that provides as much as we need or want

My clones are still looking pretty good considering their rocky start. I'm still misting them just to be safe even tho I probably don't need to. I've peaked a few times and the stems all look healthy with no slime or anything. Water temps seem like they could be cooler but not for sure. I'm just running straight tap water.

Recently I did discover from another member that my tap water is excellent. I was able to obtain our communities annual water quality report just by doing a google search. Obviously it's not a guaranteed analysis for my tap water but at least it gives me a general basis.


I plan on keeping my clones in the cloner until they show roots (hopefully in a week seems how it's been a week already).Then I will put them in solo cups for approximately a 2 week veg. In the meantime I will move the remaining mothers, blue Thai and Dinachem, into my flowering tent.

At that point my wild Thai and lemon Thai Kush mothers should be large enough to take clones.

My bagseed plant is getting pretty close. I'm thinking about 2 more weeks before I'll start the flush. She's about 40in tall from the top of the pot and 40in.

I've been doing a lot of strain research online trying to see if I can narrow her down. I'm thinking either orange or orange Kush. Obviously a big guess but I'm smelling really strong oranges with a hint of fuel maybe while my wife is smelling lemons lol. Either way she's the best smelling plant I've grown to days.

I've been watching her calyxes super close. Trying to make sure she's not a hermie. None of them appear to be growing beans but I won't feel entirely safe until I crack open the first bud lol. Not seeing any additional spotting or curling.

Here's my blue OG. She's been in flower about 2 weeks. Not really smelling like much yet. Mainly a floral scent. Her clones seem to be doing well even tho I've heard their notoriously hard to clone. I even cloned her a week into flower. Hopefully the clones root. I really don't want to lose this strain. I had to get something else in the flower tent quick though lol.

Here's the Ultrasour. She's about 1 week into flower. Cloned her a few days into flower and they seem to be doing well, fingers crossed!

I've also got a clone of the bagseed plant a few days into flower. Hopefully she turns out like her mom. Ill post pics of her with the next update.
