More watts = more distance?

Lets just say if you only have one 100 watts CFL and you have to put that one light close to the plant..right? Now let just say I now have 4 100 watts CFLs.........Should I keep them at same distance for is it safe to increse the distance to 2 fold or even 3 folds without losing light intencity?? Is there such thing as TOO MUCH light??

No such thing as too much light, there is such a thing as too much heat. If it is hot then pull them back, but I think you will be alright with CFLs, keep them 4-6" away I would say since they are warmer than tube flouros. Or keep them close and make sure the fan is moving enough air in there to keep it cool.
