More i read the more im confused (re nutes)

regarding the nutes;
OK so you all hate miracle grow, even though my friend swears by it.
The confusion im having with the whole nute issue is with the numbers;
forget about the brand or organic issue, why would someone want to use say a Alaska 5-1-1 when they can use Peters 20-20-20 or what ever. assuming a person doesnt over due it, arent the higher numbers better? If i take medicine i want the strongest i can handle,,, dont the plants want the same?

It's all about the ratios of numbers to each other.

Also, those numbers are only referring to 3 of the many, many things the plant gets from the roots.

Keep in mind your numbers will effect your growth stages differently. TO much N durring the flowering period will increase your leaf to flower ratio. Meaning more leafs less buds. This is just an idea of why you want specific numbers durring certian stages. you want more P during the transition stage, when your going from veg to flower. and in the ladder part of flowering you want to almost cut all the N out of your nutrients and go with all P-K. But high number dont always mean better. To much of a nutrient can cause a lock out. and lock outs are bad news. Dont let this info scare you. Its just giving you some insight into the N-P-K ratio thing. I suggeswt reading the links that were givin to you by Hog Daddy. They'll give great insite on the number thing. :goodluck: and ask away if theres anymore questions. its better safe then soory right? :ganjamon:
