KALISPELL- Backers of medical marijuana in Montana filed a lawsuit against the state of Montana and are now raising money for the battle with a series of fundraisers around the state, with one coming to Kalispell.
The Montana Cannabis Industry Association is the main force behind the event, which will feature live music to collect money to be used in the lawsuit, as well as for a petition drive for a referendum that could bring power back to the voters for the November 2012 election.
The Montana Secretary of State has the referendum right now, and it will next head to the Montana Attorney General's office. Medical marijuana supporters will start gathering signatures if the request is approved
"I think if you feel that your rights have been violated in Montana, I think you should show up and get involved. Get on board with what we're doing, because its not just about pot anymore. It's about our rights, it's amazing what they're taking away from us," Montana Cannibis Industry Addociation voard member Ed Docter told us.
The fundraiser will be held on July 11th at the Eagles Club in Kalispell beginning at 7 p.m.
