Mesh/Net pot size?

So I'm new to hydroponics and was wondering what is a ideal pot size for hydrophonics set up
I guessing the pot doesn't need to be too big as it doesn't contain the roots
Is 3 inch too small?

Some information might help. For starters, what specific type of hydroponics are you referring to? I can think of four off the top of my head, and things will naturally differ between them.

Hi, Notts! I started out with ebb and flow and I’m using deep water culture in my cloning tent. I start out with 2-inch pots for the clones and then go to 3-inch once the roots develop. They stay in the three inch pots, and when I move them to the flowering tent I transplant the entire plant and pot into a six-inch pot with hydroton. I can fit eight of these into my big tent. So it depends on what you are doing, how big the pot.

I use 6" in 5 gallon buckets. Anything larger and it's difficult to get in the bucket for a ppm or pH check.

It’s hard to say which is easier. I like the ebb and flow setup. It works well. I bought one put together but you can make your own, and I think there are several here who did that. Same with DWC.
