(PORTLAND, Ore.) - I get more surprised everyday. I have been with the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program even before it started about 1997 when I was a Chief Petitioner and after that the Number One Doctor for patients and applications.

I have been on Channel Two TV many times with question ostensibly "why are you a POT DOCTOR helping all of these POT HEADS?" It was very humorous much like a lynching.

The latest Channel Two news stories are in the same vein. "How easy it is to get a marijuana card". Well it isn't easy at all as most patients will attest. The "cutesy poo" reporter who gave the report actually broke several laws:

* First of all she got a doctor to falsify her medical problem.
* The Medical Board COULD revoke his license for that.
* She lied to him about her condition, that was also illegal.
* Then she told the marijuana doctor that she had real pain problems. That was also illegal.
* She falsified her application, which is also illegal.
* At the end, she was seen by the TV camera accepting and keeping marijuana which is also illegal, technically she wasn't really a legal medical marijuana patient yet.
* She and her camera crew took pictures of legal marijuana patients and showed them on the TV, this is against Federal HIPPA Laws.

All of the above shows what a very dishonest person can do. She was a pretty girl, that helped. She was dressed very well. Many patients are near destitute and look disreputable. They ARE usually destitute. She speaks like a well educated yuppy. We like to see them. They give an aura of class to a program of typical down at his/her luck destitute persons.

The procedures for getting an Oregon Medical Marijuana Card are among the most strict in the U.S. There certainly are doctors who are willing to falsify the papers for a buck but this is dangerous to their licenses. Even truly legitimate doctors have been dragged before the Medical Board.

There is no way to detect a lying patient.

The doctors at my former clinic rely exclusively on previous doctors' chart notes which is close to foolproof.

The clinic has 110,000 patient charts. We must have been doing something right.

In the meantime thanks to Channel Two for the free advertising. We want everybody to know that the Hemp & Cannabis Clinic is the place to go.

WE TAKE CARE OF OUR PATIENTS!
