Girl Scout Cookies and Green Crack fans are going to be howling for Cookie Crizzle - an Oakland cross of the hit indica hybrid (GSC) and long-time sativa favorite Green Crack.
Spotted at the licensed medical marijuana dispensary Phytologie in Oakland, Cookie Crizzle capitalizes on the mega-hype around San Francisco-born Girl Scout Cookies by crossing into the classic sativa from Ohio.
Available as flower buds, Cookie Crizzle has a new fruity aroma wedded to the density and weight of Cookies. The strain is super-flavorful and maximum-potency with strong hybrid effects not suitable for new medical cannabis patients. However, high-tolerance patients are using these high-THC hybrids to manage nerve pain, and spasms, and mood disorders like depression.
Cookie Crizzle is the inevitable result of breeders riffing on the number one strain in the world right now, Girl Scout Cookies.
Cookies mixed a Florida cut of OG Kush with a San Francisco Purple and a Northern California cut of South African Durban, and the resulting strain has upended the global cannabis market, which was dominated by the OG Kush family for decades. Cookies has taken home around a dozen Cannabis Cups for its huge and complex aroma and flavor, and intense yet sedative effects.
We're seeing Cookies crosses proliferate, whether it's The Cookie Fam's own updates like Sunset Sherbet and Gelato, or outside groups' mixes with Blueberry for Blue Cookies.
Meanwhile, Green Crack is a potent yet decades-old light-green sativa from Ohio originally named Green Cush, but re-christened Green Crack by rapper Snoop Dogg for its enticingly energetic daytime effects. Retailers have been amending the name to Green Ribbon or something less negative for sales purposes, and this sativa is widely used for daytime conditions like pain, nausea and mood. An elite East Bay cut of Green Crack dubbed "Pincher's Creek" was used in this Phytologie breeding project.
Cookie Crizzle has the green leaf color and fruity aroma of Green Cush and the size and heft of Cookies. Phytologie's cuts were delicately harvested, then dried and cured to perfection, with nary a trichome out of place. The bud was hand-manicured, not roughed up in a machine trimmer, and it goes great in joints, bowls or vaporizers - just use a grinder to loosen up the dense buds. As the FDA says with the pure THC pill Marinol, patients should not operate heavy machinery on Cookie Crizzle " until it is established that they are able to tolerate the drug and to perform such tasks safely."
