Medical Marijuana Provider's Trial Pushed Back

A judge has pushed back the trial of a former University of Montana quarterback and medical marijuana provider accused of breaking federal drug laws.

Jason Washington's trial had been set to get under way Monday in Missoula. U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen rescheduled the trial for January 14 and has given prosecutors and Washington's attorneys until Jan. 3 to reach a plea agreement.

Washington would be only the second medical marijuana provider to stand trial in the federal government's crackdown on Montana's large medical pot operations.

Five of Washington's co-defendants have made plea deals with prosecutors. Christensen threw out the indictment of the sixth co-defendant when he learned a grand jury heard statements she made after making an immunity deal with prosecutors.
