A medical marijuana bill that passed the Pennsylvania Senate 40-7 in May still hasn't made it to the floor of the House for a vote.
So legislators who support the concept are taking a new approach, forming a bipartisan group working to craft a new bill that will be able to pass both the House and Senate.
According to Fox43, the group has been meeting at least weekly, using Senate Bill 3 - the one that's stalled in House committee - and House Bill 1432 as the base for its legislation.
Rep. Ron Marsico, a Republican from Dauphin County, told the organization that issues the group is working through include "the number dispensaries in the state, the number of processors, and the number of cannabis growers," and that he hopes to push a new bill into a committee no later than September.
The Morning Call quoted working group member Rep. Mike Schlossberg, a Democrat from Lehigh County, as saying, "I prefer the Senate bill. But I also prefer something over nothing."
