The Sedgwick Town Board of Trustees met on Monday evening, December 10 2012 at 6pm. Trustees, Gina Kinoshita, Jeanine Tarber, Peggy Owens and Phyllis Mussey were present in addition to Mayor, Alan Otsuka and Clerk, Rhonda Jones. The meeting was called to order with a few guests present, including, Trish Lockhart of Liittjohann, Kauffman & Pederson, CPA's.
Following the monthly reports and approval of November meeting minutes, was the topic of the application received for a medical marijuana dispensary planning to open in Sedgwick in early 2013. The Town received the final portion of said application, the lighting plan, which was submitted to the Town's attorney, via fax, Monday evening. This is the final aspect needing review by the attorney before approving the licensing for "Dacono Meds" to begin serving medical marijuana to licensed clients in the area. Watch for more information to come regarding Dacono Meds' second location, to be housed in Sedgwick, in future editions of the Advocate.
Next item up for discussion and approval was a donation request from SCEDC. "We have always limited donations to twenty five dollars," Stated Mayor Otsuka "But we have made exceptions in the past." Trustee Kinoshita added. Last year the Town of Sedgwick donated $300 to SCEDC for operational costs, a motion was made and seconded to give the $300 donation again this year. The vote was unanimous and the donation will be made.
Two separate hearings were opened to the public, both for a period of fifteen minutes. First was the Highway Use Tax hearing, and the second was the hearing of the proposed budget for 2013. No one was present to raise concerns or to object to either and resolutions were passed to adopt the budget and appropriate funds as such, as well as to set the mill levy at 27.203. Mill levy certification was signed by both Mayor Otsuka and Clerk Jones to be sent to County Commissioners.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:02pm, and the next meeeting will be held at the Sedgwick Town Hall on January 14 2013 at 6:00pm/
