Lawmakers are still pressing on trying to open the use of medical cannabis for those with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Supporters of medical marijuana want to add post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD as a use. Bill 310's sponsor Senator Wanzenreid says he knows for certain that non traditional medication works after all he is a cancer survivor himself.
An almost empty committee room heard two bills on Thursday concerning the use of medical marijuana Senate Bill 310 and 311.
Supporters say many veterans come home with PTSD and get put on prescription medication by their doctors, which they say leaves them with even more depression and addiction.
The second measure wants to make sure that if any federal laws change in regards of medical marijuana that the state of Montana will not adopt the changes that would take place.
Those that oppose both measures say that marijuana is a gateway drug and those who suffer from PTSD should seek other solutions.
