Max's First Grow - Soil - LED - Painkiller XL

100F is too much... 91F is what I'm getting, it's great.

There should be no rush...

The time will come when Max will have HPS again, after he sees my harvest in 30 days

But seriously, Max's plants look happy so congratulations that is no small feat :thumb:

V:bongrip:

Thanks Vlad, maybe if I was growing as a job I'd have a different view and spend my days drilling holes and figuring the temps out. I look forward to seeing your harvest. I feel no rivalry on HPS vs LED ;-)

Edit: I've just caught up with your journal. That's a very nice bit of training you've done.

Good job Max. They are looking mighty healthy and I like your attitude about having fun. There is always enough frustration just doing a hobby grow, I certainly don't want or need any extra pressure either. Every grow keeps getting better and better, soon I'm going to cut down on the numbers of plants at any one time to make it easier yet.

+ reps for a super looking flowering chamber :high-five:

Thanks Beav, it's like a weight has been lifted. I've really enjoyed tending the garden since Thursday and I certainly don't feel an urge to try to grow to plant of the month standard. I'm stupidly happy with progress and it is a delight watching these girls grow up. I also grow vicariously through all the journals I read. In my very own little garden, progress so far has exceeded my expectations.

Mate its all a learning experience. everything you do right will stand you in good stead and anything you do wrong is a lesson learnt. I still dont think LED is the way right now. I think youd be best pulling LED out and trying to figure out how to run 600w. No need for holes in ceilings etc. But however you go just make sure it works. Ive got a new hydro journal if u want to have a look mate.

I'll follow along with your new grow for sure! Was looking at Incredible Bulk seeds for a much later grow when I've got lots of CBD to play with.

75 Days Old, 32 Days Flip, 18 Days from First Flower - Yellow Leaves

The issue of yellow leaves appears to be getting worse. A couple of days ago I added growth nutes to increase N but it's too early to see if it's helped at all.

The room the tent is in is dark so I had to turn off the LED's and use flash

You can make out the spread of discoloured leaves in this picture better, even though the LED's are tinting things

During veg I only removed a few leaves under the scrog net, so there are probably more fan leaves than more experienced growers would have at this point. All the yellow leaves are lower on the plant and none high on the canopy.

Is this normal at this stage of development or should I be taking corrective action and if so, is adding extra N via grow nutes the right way to go about this?

For a bit of background; all nutes have been given at the minimum suggested dose, so it's very unlikely to be excess nutrients. CalMag has been given on most feeds at the rate of 0.75ml per litre.

All feeds have been to the Old Timer schedule at half the maximum recommended dose and if anything they have been a little under-watered, getting a soak once a week. Through the week they get 1 litre of water every other day.

Water is pH adjusted to 6.5. Out of the tap it has settled at 7.2.

I'm hoping some yellow leaves is normal on very lightly defoliated plants.

Any advice would be very welcome at this point; I'm somewhat concerned.

Im not a true canna expert by any means brother Max. I think them yellowing lowers are just stem feeders. They arent really of much use now i dont think. Ive had some yellowing lower leaves on some of my plants. They just werent getting much light so the plant consumed their viable nutrients and shed most of them on its own. LEDs eat up cal mag in the girls faster. Kick em a lil more when ya can. Some extra phosphorous wouldnt hurt either. The deep green makes it look like ya are spot on with the N. Very nice lookin garden bud! :thumb:

Thanks for taking the time to respond Stihl, much appreciated.

They are low down and most aren't getting much light so that makes sense. I'll give them an extra shot of CalMag tomorrow.

Cheers

Forgive me 420, for I have sinned.

This morning I stumbled out of bed and decided to give the girls their weekly soak. Different plants had different amounts to get to run off, but the average was 3 litres each.

I added Cajun Celt's essential oil mix to the Blueberry to frost her up (not for the Painkiller because I don't want to upset the THC:CBD balance). In all the excitement I forgot to pH the water, doh!

Looks like they've had a good soaking with 7.2 pH water. This is where I really hope the soil buffering effect comes into play. Such a rookie mistake to make, but t'is done now.

In other news, the second grow will be in a custom made enclosure in my home office. The frame is built and all the wood to face it has arrived. The enclosure is 2' deep, 6' wide and 5' high. This is the absolute maximum size I can fit in the space available. The plan is to line the inside with double aluminium bubble wrap, unless someone says otherwise. At the moment I'm figuring out how to cut neat holes for the ducting and how to light seal the holes once the duct is fed through.

Have a great day y'all. It's sunny here in the UK, which is a bit of a spirit lift considering the self flagellation over the pH issue.

it's sunny here too and yes they should be fine the soil buffers it out completely I don't even own a ph meter never had a lock out or ph problems well once when i reused the light mix.

That's a great relief to hear Spart, you've cheered me up no end :-) I normally pH religiously but got a bit distracted messing with essential oils.

Oregano, Thyme, Cinnamon, Clove, Rosemary. Mix them up then add 2.5ml of the mix per gallon of water. Certainly smells nice in there at the moment. If the Blueberry gets sickly now I'll know why.

Here's a link describing it but the decimal is in the wrong place. Half a teaspoon is 2.5ml, not 0.25ml

If my garden was in my office it's debatable how much "real" work I'd get done.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT Max:high-five:

At the moment I wander to the other room to stalk the girls. I'm hoping I'll be more productive because I've taken commuting time out of the equation ;-)
