To help maybe answer your question about the bud igniter, I use a similar product and it was recommended to me to use it once the buds begin to form, about 2 weeks into flower. I'm sure it hasn't hurt your plants, just likely the plants can't fully use or take advantage of what those nutes provide that early in flower.

Only use bud ignitor for first 10 - 14 days from flip....

Bud Ignitor is used to initiate flowering sites, its not a bloom nute. you want to get onto bloom nutes as soon as possible. I dont use veg nutes from the second i flip and for a few days before. If you are seeing flower sites not get onto your bloom base nute and of you want heavy buds I wouldnt recommend anything other than Buddhas Tree PK. Trust me its great and its what the best growers use for weight in europe. take my word for it.
 
Ps you should be ok with temps between 65 and 90. its pushing it a touch but not the end of the world unless you have a really twitchy strain. Remember indica plants grow in the desert, they can handle 90f. 84f is good. mine are running at that now and are quality.

Thank you for the information +reps. I'll do some mental maths and show my working out

Fimmed TG

Wet = 18
Dry = 4

Dry weight is 4/18 = around 22% of wet weight

Natural TG

Wet = 23.75
Dry = 5.50

Dry weight is (gets calculator out) = 23% of wet weight


Fimmed JH

Wet = 23.90
Dry = 3

Dry weight is around 13% of wet weight

I'm going to assume a lot of the wet weight of FJH was stalks. If we gloss over that result, around 75% loss of weight is in the right ballpark. Excellent information, thanks for sharing. This kind of stuff isn't widely available - I'll include such statistics in my grow if I reach fruition. There's some serious doubt about that today. More in my distressed update shortly.

Thanks for great info as always. I'm expecting a bunch of he-she's after last night's fiasco. I'll wax lyrical about this momentarily. The HPS may be launched out the window.

Welcome Stealth, thanks for dropping in and commenting. I've done some research, confirmed by Cultivator, and this particular product is used immediately from flip until the flowers start to show around 14 days.
 
Tent Temps Fiasco - The HPS Must Die

I guess I'm not cut out for the HPS life. I can't deny the plants under the HPS have flourished, but I'll be surprised if they don't all get scrotums and call themselves Gloria or Priscella quite soon. The extra cost as they all start demanding pan stick make up to cover their facial hair will be quite shocking.

Temperatures were a little f**cked up last night to say the least. At lights out they were nudging 96 degrees. In the dark, temps plummeted to 56 degrees.

Short of cutting holes in the wall/ceiling, then making a clever duct arrangement that lets me lose heat in the day and recycle heat at night, I don't see how I'm going to control this. Everything was simple with LED only. I have an oil filled rad in the tent that clicks on when it gets too chilly, but the HPS confuses it, so it was clicking on even at 80+ degrees. As a result I turned it right down and forgot to turn it up again just before lights out yesterday. My fear is that the girls will start growing beards to keep themselves warm. Oh, and after less than an hour the tent is up to 86 degrees. Pah!

The HPS is now on 400w because I'm ambling out shortly to buy a new car and can't spend the entire day dicking about trying to shed the excess heat, opening the tent up and flapping a towel around. My thoughts are veering towards replacing the HPS with another LED and accepting lower yields. Saying that can't get a much lower yield than a bunch of he-she's parading around the tent in chiffon.

It may not be all bad though; I got to thinking about high altitude plants, widely regarded as some of the strongest in the world. Temperatures must go much lower than 56 at night up in the mountains... unless all that rock acts as a big fuck off heat sink that absorbs heat in the day and radiates it at night. Regardless of the science, dialling in the HPS is beyond my meagre intellect and right now I'm thinking another LED with a minimum 400w draw is the way forwards.

I can already see that HPS looks superior when it comes to growth rate, but I don't have the skills to keep things in the sweet spot. Bugger.
 
Hang in there max, sounds like you need a bigger exhaust fan. Like an 8" or bigger max can fan. Mine pulls over 1000cfm, so it clears out my 9.5x9.5 room in about 1-3mins if that. When its warmer outside I have to run my fan the entire time the lights are on. Just to keep it 75. I too have a hps/Led setup. Hope some of this was useful man. Hang in there

Yes this is true, because your plants will store the extra nutrients has RNA(i think), and DNA. Your plant will store these nutrients till needed, or at least this is what I got from what I've read. May be completely false(because if its on the internet it must be true right?)

Sorry to hear about your temperature woes.

My grow area shows 30C about 6 inches under the 250W bulb.

HPS has the best spectrum for flowering... dense rocky buds is what you would be missing out on but if you have to go to the pink glow of LED then I guess some bud is better than none!

No pressure Max, you can do this! :thumb:

It's just paper money, not gold or anything precious so go ahead and get yourself the LED! Time is running out, you're in flower phase!!!

Glad you figured it out and sorry for leading you in the wrong direction. I use a bud enhancer called Sonic boost that you start using at first signs of flowering all the way through till the flush. Once I started using it a few grows back I immediately noticed a difference in bud size. I though bud igniter might be similar.

The jury is still out. Lights on temps are manageable with the HPS set to 400w. I've just bought a new car and kind of went a little crazy, so not got a lot left over for more lights. Mid-life crisis = Audi S4 with custom interior. Whoops :-)

I have a small tent that gets the air cleared every 40 seconds with the fan I have. Things would get pretty dry and crispy if I move any more air in there, but thanks. Maybe a faster fan on the cool tube? Would that be a cunning plan? Cheers for the comments and advice, much appreciated.
 
Two Week Flip Update

It's finally happened! I've got baby buds!

I've set a reminder to turn up the oil filled rad and move the inlet away from the open window just before lights out. Hopefully none of them will wake up tomorrow with the announcement "henceforth you may call me Priscella" whilst scratching their bollocks and farting.

Temps are more manageable with the HPS set to 400w and I've blown my budget on a mid-life crisis purchase today (see reply to Vlad earlier in this thread). We will be limping along on a mix of HPS and LED until the bitter (glorious?) end.

It was said earlier that 6" colas could be possible. If all 50 turn out like that I'll have 25' of buds. Who cares about weight, we're going by feet and inches from here on in.

Thanks for being there as I wibbled. Once again you guys and gals have talked me off the ledge.
