Hello 420 Magazine! My favorite place to spend my down time and talk about my favorite hobby!

I have finally pieced together a setup that will allow me to Flower and Veg separately. Therefore allowing me to harvest regularly, as well as experiment more then I usually would.

I have been growing my own medicine for a few years now and have a few completed journals on the site. This journal’s objective is just to document consistent grows in a singular place for me to look back on to tweak my variables for the next cycle.

I know I can count on my regular crew to come through and drop golden bits of knowledge all throughout. But I’m looking forward to seeing some new folks stop by as well.

Now onto the set-up.

Tents:

• 4 x 4 Vivosun grow tent (Flower Room)
• 4 x 2 Vivosun grow tent (Veg Room)

These tents are nothing to write home about and have their flaws. But for what they are they get the job done.

Lights:

• In the 4x4 tent:

Environment:

• Environment is controlled by an LG dehumidifier to control RH% or an ultra sonic humidifier depending on the needs.

•Temps I am at the mercy of Mother Nature, all I can do is keep air flowing through the tent and truly to be as proactive as possible. Temps have currently been from 85-93F this week.

Cultivar:

• Original Glue (photoperiod)

Description

The Original Glue strain is a tall, big yielding and easy to grow hybrid that flowers in a short time, boasting a staggering THC level of up to 25%. Multiple High Times Cup winner, this girl is the ultimate couch lock, face melting strain, Original Glue Feminized is undeniably potent and in a class of her own. Well suited for beginner growers chasing the ultimate in indica effects and diesel, fuel, chocolate and coffee flavors and aroma.

Genetics: This lady was created by crossing Chem's Sister with Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel. The result was a three way hybrid that is off the charts when it comes to potency and resin production. Well recommended to beginner growers thanks to her high plant resistance and simplicity to grow and maintain.
Original glue strain characteristics: Original Glue Feminized will express her lineage with a blend of indica and sativa genetics. This means she will stretch considerably once flowering commences, giving her a tall appearance and making her an excellent candidate for plant training such as tying town and topping.
A fast flowering strain that will require 7-9 weeks depending on phenotype, where she is able to produce a very generous 500 - 600 g/m². She is easy to grow, produces epic harvests and is perfect for commercial growers, as well as beginner growers. Her bud structure is long and dense, and oozes trichomes giving her a sticky appearance giving her the name Glue. THC levels will range from 18-25%, and in some cases even higher.
Experiencing this strain: The potency of Original Glue Feminized is not to be underestimated. We strongly suggest this to smokers with a high tolerance, and fans on knockout Indica and Kush strains. It will only take one joint before you are sprawled out on the couch without the motivation to do much. Your entire body will feel like it is melting as you unstick yourself from the sofa.
A wonderful strain for evening times, totally unwinding after a long day, for deep meditation or just a lazy day at home watching movies, or a box set with friends.
Her terpene profile is very rich indeed and contains a composition of gas, fuel, chocolate with hints of coffee with a dank, earthy base. Medical patients may find this hybrid useful for reducing aches, pains, cramps, spasms, reducing anxiety, relieving insomnia and stimulating appetite.
What makes Original Glue strain so great: Possible one of the strongest strains with a superb and unique kushy flavour. Extreme potency, huge yields and ridiculous resin profile make the Original Glue Feminized strain one of the best things to hit the market for beginner, commercial and hash makers.

That gets the basics out of the way, I am currently growing my Glue in FFOF soil in 5gallon pots and feeding with Roots Organic Terp Teas the move away from hydroponics is mainly due to some time I had planned to be away as well as to combat my heat issues summer tends to bring.
The thing is how much I’ve fallen in love with the simplicity of the soil medium. Which got me researching the different ways to run organics. (There’s way more then one may believe) Naturally I knew just where to look to get the info I was searching for, none other then one of @Emilya s journals.
The first thing I took away from the organic gardening is that nothing can be done impulsively AND correctly and if a mistake is made you can mitigate it but not immediately correct it as in hydro. Therefore I can’t commit 100% yet either, but depending on how the ladies in soil turn out will tell me if I’ll continue to explore organics or stick with hydroponics where I’ve found my own level of success.

The plan with this run was to find the natural best specimen for me to keep around for my pain / insomnia. Was unaware of how quickly a plant would deplete the food provided by the soil, I was able to keep them happy in veg by well timed up potting but I knew for flower I would need some amendments to get the results we look for at harvest time.

Here’s a photo dump of the veg stage (sorry)

The ladies were moved up to 5gal pots just about a week ago. Gave them a feed of terp tea brewed for 24 hours and then just water a few days later. The lights have been shut off for atleast 24 hours to start the bloom transition.

Good stuff JB
Query - is back left showing signs of early CaMg or K deficiency?
Front right looks like it's on it's way too
Just asking

@Growings Early Mg is where the signs are leading, The tea I brewed and fed had some epsom mixed in to assist with this but this was the first feeding other then a dry amendment top dressing after final transplant. I’m allowing some time to take those up naturally before I attempt a foiler spray.

I’m unfamiliar with soil and the response times to nutrients, this has been my biggest handicap thus far I will admit.

Hey James! Great start to your journal, count me in for the ride!
Thanks Rex, I’m not abandoning hydroponics. It’s just been a little too hot for me to handle res temps with no chiller at the moment. I’m planning a run for the fall/winter though.
Thanks for dropping in :high-five:

The deficiency has progressed through the 36 hour dark period to initiate bloom.
:straightface:EVERY single top sight as well as new growth turned Bright Yellow, I peaked in on them at 24 hours and noticed it progressed and every ladies signs look identical. This has to be a ph issue, only thought I could muster. This sent me into action with the only solution that seemed logical to me.
E4D8EB5A-D0EE-4DA8-8C95-A9A97677D01E.jpeg

I added 25ML CalMag+ (With iron) to 5 gallons of water lowered the ph to 6.3 and gave every one a gallon hoping to lower soil ph. I will repeat this again before giving another feeding as precaution
Followed by a foiler spray of 4 TBS of Epsom salts dissolved into 1Gal of water/ sprayed an hour before lights came on.

I’m just hoping this helps long enough for someone to help me advise a better route.

A little over 24 hours since flushing the root zone and giving another foiler spray an hour before the lights came on.
I believe they are looking a tad bit greener. Not sure which is working but will give one more plain water before trying another feed. Hopefully we get this put behind us quickly. Stunting them much worse will be detrimental come harvest time.

What do y’all think 420?

Perfect, all those plants look perfect :welldone:
I wouldn’t say perfect, but they’re making me feel better about transitioning to flower now.
Looking much better, well done
I must say you called that one perfectly and almost exactly 24 hours before the signs showed up. That’s a sharp eye :thumb:

Amazes me when people post pictures of almost dead plants and say 'What should I do now?' (bin it lol)
The minute the plant doesn't look absolutely perfect, a grower needs to spot it, identify the problem and act quickly
I've made every mistake in the book and had every problem imaginable, but never more than once

That’s impressive, I seem to have a issue with CaMg every run it seems. Didn’t think I would have that issue in soil though.

Still trucking along, have noticed the pistols really beginning to pop.

Temps: 86
RH: 60%
The Mars lights are only set around 65% at this point and slowly bumping up in small increments randomly throughout the week.

All are looking good compared to last week, I’m considering Saturday day 1 of flower. The tiny bud sets are forming and stretching up like we all want to see.
